Title: Lafranconi Competizione slip ons
Post by: Spokane2303 on June 24, 2018, 09:35:14 AM
Anyone have these on their V7?

Sound, quality, mapping required?

I have Mistrals on my V7 so I can't answer the first part of your question.

Regarding the mapping question - yes you will need a map and there many of us that will recommend Beetle's maps.  I highly recommend Beetle's map even for a stock V7, Norge, or whatever.   The best bang for the buck I have spent on my Guzzis.  And no I don't work for Mark.

If it is the old style of lafranconi composizone then you should be aware that they are very loud!
I have a set on my T5, and I am planning to make or get a new set that isn't so loud.

How it will be running on a V7 I don't know but mapping is definitely required

If you check Beetle's website (Griso.org) you will find the map for that exhaust there. So someone has taken the trouble to have theirs mapped - if you want endorsements, I'd track it down from there.

I am running them on my 13 stone now. Very loud! They don't make them with baffles. I use a Beetle map and my bike runs fine. I do get popping on decel and it can be loud because no baffles , but they do look nice.

Popping on deceleration? Beetle has said "I can fix that". Just saying. If it concerns you, chase it up.

Mistrals give you the choice of db killers in or out.  I like the way the Mistrals sound with them in.  Beetle's map works perfectly.  I believe he has multiple  maps available based on db killers in or out.

Yea, Mark and I have exchanged many emails with trying different maps, stills pops like a bugger! I even put new exhaust gaskets at headers and sealed everything up.

Yep. I'm terribly vexed.

I'm having the same issue with a V7 running Engo pipes. It pops like a SOB. The owner has checked for leaks, replaced gaskets, nipped the fixings up, and tried 6 different maps, IIRC. My vexation knows no end.

This topic always interests me because of the cost, mapping & other niggles that often cause unnessesary attention & agravation just for a louder ride. Most riders don't notice or use the change even when done sucessfully. I have changed systems but not when rejetting/mapping is required.
Freedom Perfomance Exhausts in LA built a system using my MGX-21 with no popping, noticeable increase in acceleration, less weight (not so seat of the pants noticeable) & best of all, no remap & they sounded great imo😃
