Title: NGC Do you watch LivePD? NGC
Post by: fotoguzzi on July 07, 2018, 09:28:41 PM
tonight was the 100th episode.. basically live TV from many law enforcement agencies where one or more camera crew ride along..
.I don't watch a lot but boy you see the seedy side of life.. is it a comment on state of TV or American life?
the Live Tv part is limited to friday/saturday nights and replays at other times..A&E network..
tech is pretty cool, the photg wears a backpack device that sends HD TV images split through 6 or more cell phone signals  then recombined as they are received at the TOC for broadcast.
so the little backpack has replaced the big Ford E350 with the 60 foot RF mast or satellite dish.

Walton County Sheriff's Office rocks!  Coolest, most sane deputies I've ever seen.

Entertaining show for sure!

I like to watch it. Shows how dumb a lot of people are. You’d think if you plan on “riding dirty” you’d at least obey traffic laws, have a current tag and make sure all the lights on their vehicle worked.

Well there is a reason why prisons are over full of not so bright people.
A while back I was on I-70 in central, KS. going through a very rural area. I am passed by a Kansas City area tagged Buick with four 20 something males all with backward caps on doing at least 90mph. About 10 up the road they are having a conversation with local law enforcement.
Another recent was a guy that was busted locally in Newton, KS with nine pounds of pot. He was checked out when he was acting suspiciously in a local apartment building parking lot. When the officer approached the guy asked the   cop if he was in Kansas City or Muskogee, OK. Ah....Newton is population 18,000.

Holy cow is Newton that big?  I went to school for a year in North Newton I remember it being tiny.  Of course that was 30+ years ago....

Live PD was ran out of town after the Jeffersonville Indiana police beat up two of my friends.  Nearly killing one of them.  The police called an ambulance, put him in it, sent him to the University of Louisville trauma center unconscious. Apparently hoping no one would notice.  The police tried to hide the assault after throwing one of the guys down a flight of concrete steps.  No charges or report was ever filed. My friend, who I talk to every day had disappeared and know one new where he was.  A day and a half later I get a call and he was in the intensive car at the University hospital  He said he had know idea why.  I immediately head to the hospital (on Christmas morning) to find out.  The hospital told Us they only new that he was sent there unconscious from a fall accident while intoxicate by the Jeffersonville Police department.  The other friend was given a ticket for public intoxication and released.  It took several days of question of the police and a lot of denial before we found out what had happened.   A local attorney had already been investigating Live PD and the complaints from people that the police were getting overly aggressive while being in front of the camera and they were being encouraged to increase the drama for the audience by the Live PD film crew.   The story is not over yet.  The lawyer is trying to develop a legal claim and the hospital wants money for the medical care.

I have a hard time understanding why any PD would allow cameras to record everything they do.. I don't expect any LivePD crews to be seen in Minnesota ever.
