Here is my buddy Dwight's "mildly custom" Bonneville Speedmaster. He loves this bike!

After having a Belt Drive System or a Shaft Drive System … How could you ever go back to a Chain on anything but a dirt bike ?
Just asking ?

I bought mine in March. I haven't discovered anything bad yet! Beautiful to look at, handles brilliantly. Quite a small tank - c150 miles - and you are correct, it's not cheap.

Not a bad looking bike! (And a very nice pub). I looked at the Cali 1400 - but was deterred by the weight. The Triumph is 100kg lighter.

Rudy , I'm not sure how the hack from your current Bonneville will work on the new 1200 , but it should go faster

Chain drive isn't a problem as far as I'm concerned. If a chain can handle a moto gp bike or flat track racing, it can handle anything I throw at it

I don't get the hate for chains. Easy maintenance, if more often of course. Easy to change ratios. Easy to find parts if on a road trip. Nah, not a big deal. Shaft is great, love it... unless shit goes wrong. and it's gone wrong to me.

After selling my Ducati Diavel (thrilling acceleration, poor daily rider), I swore that I would never buy another bike with chain final drive. Then in early June, I rented a bmw F700GS for a week-long tour in Northern California. This was not a bike that was on my radar to own, but I figured it would be fine for a rental. After seven days and 900 miles or so, I concluded that it was probably the best all-around motorcycle I’ve ever ridden. Bought a new one as soon as I got home, chain and all.
With the centerstand, lubing the chain every 600 miles really isn’t much trouble.
