So I really like my Stornello looks the way it is. I have a Dart flyscreen, bar end mirrors, a stone guard over the headlight and a soft luggage tail pack. Problem is when there's a pretty good breeze going and it's 110 degrees that breeze feels like a hair dryer pointing right in your face. I'd like to put a somewhat better windshield but I want to keep the sporty looks. So I'm open to pictures and suggestions. I thought something like a GiviA770N or 800N but they are pretty pricey. Alternatives ?

I've gone through the Dart, Dart Marlin, and now this inexpensive generic Cafe fairing.
And honestly, more or less, they all felt the way you're describing.
Then I had a gobsmacked moment and wore my Nolan without the chin bar but WITH the removable face shield and duh, now I love this Cafe fairing.

I run the Dart fly screen most of the time to protect the speedo and keep some wind off my torso - helmet is in clean air. Come the colder months I switch to this ugly but effective National Cycle F15 tour screen with Vario spoiler.

If you don't mind, how tall are you? I have been thinking getting a "taller" touring shield too for longer ride (500 KM+) muti day trip.
Marlin works well keeping the pressure away my chest but my neck does get a bit tired after a full day of riding due to clean air hitting the head.

I'm 5'11" but short limbed/ long torso. From a seat to head length I'm probably an inch or two 'taller' than my actual height.

I am also short limb/long torso...but I am only 5'-9.5"...so that might be enough to let the air past above me then...

Just installed a Puig screen. Fits the bill perfectly and cheap too. Just tested it on a 1700 mile trip and worked great

On the V7s I prefer either the Guzzi fly screen (pictured) or none at all. The OEM windscreen channelled the wind straight to the visor, and so was removed. No regrets at all.

It�s a Harley windscreen. No idea from what model or year, did cost me $20 on Fleabay. And works damn good. We did 4800 miles with it....
Not pretty, but well worth the $20.

Maybe a smart phone or GoPro on the other RAM ball, but that is is. No issues when riding a true 70 mph while wearing leathers and carbon fiber FF helmet.

I'm 6' tall, and legs and torso are reasonably proportionate. For most of the time I've had my V7ii, it's had a Givi universal touring windscreen. I don't remember the model number offhand, but it's been discontinued anyway.

It was great for wind protection, but annoying to adjust, and the fact that it was always a cm or so off-center kind of bothered me. I also began to suspect it was pushing a little too much air, as my fuel economy is always a bit lower than I think it should be.
So in the last month, I swapped it out for a Puig (this one: https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/puig-naked-universal-windscreen).

It's a lot smaller, and I'm definitely hit with more air: at 80mph, the air off the top hits just under my helmet, but the air around the sides hits my shoulders pretty squarely. It took some getting used to, but I can still do my 200 mile runs to southern Oregon with minimal fatigue. Mileage may have improved by 5%. Rain's just started in earnest here this week, so we'll see how it does in that.

nice. I was thinking about a frame mounted fairing today while riding 75 mph for 40 miles straight.

I find my V7iii great with no wind screen up to about 75mph. I guess if I was going to drone for hours on end at 80-90mph I would want a nice screen. I kind of like really knowing how fast I’m going from the extra breeze at 85. Helps stay out of serious ticket territory.

Agreed. Well fitting gear is key. Yesterday I was wearing my Tourmaster Flex jacket and with only the mesh layer I was getting some clothing vibrations at 75 that were annoying. I was wishing I had on my Cortech perforated leather jacket on.

Harpers used to sell these. "Sport Fairing" if I recall? Very sturdy, and made in Italy. I bought a white one lightly used from someone here on WG, and had it painted to match.

I use a rattlecanned Lemans fairing from Airtech-streamlining.com in the winter, and switch to a plastidipped Dart flyscreen for warmer weather. It's amazing how much more comfortable the V7 is at highspeeds with just a hint of aerodynamics.

I’m with Kevin. The smaller fairings like the Dart did nothing for me. I don’t like giant barn door fairings. I’m riding a motorcycle. And I don’t like helmet buffering.
The best solution by far was a super cheap ($50) Emgo “bikini” fairing. It keeps a lot of wind off the chest at higher speed. Allows clean airflow to helmet. Keeps a lot of rain and sun off the instrument panel.
I swapped out the stock bars for Norman Hyde “M” bars. That permits more of a lean forward position, but not too radical.
A leaned forward position and a bikini fairing is what works for me. Bending forward at the hips keeps stress off my bad back. Leaning forward takes the weight off my wrists at 70 mph plus because the airflow lifts you up a bit, as opposed to trying to blow you off the back of the bike. But I’ve liked that sort of set up for decades; maybe I’m just so used to it I see no reason to change.

I have a Dart screen but wasn't happy with it. Now wrapped in bubble wrap in the garage.

I looked up those bars. They look about the same as my LSL aluminum clubman bars.

+1 on the Emgo fairing. They've been around since the early 70s and were part of a kit consisting of the fairing and a seat that could be bolted up to the UJMs of the day to convert them to "cafe racers".

Hey there gang,
Since this thread has already been dug up once after a 2-year hiatus, I figured what's another couple of years? :clock:
I just wanted to hear a bit more from any who would care to share their thoughts on these touring screens and what I might expect on my V7III. I want to be able to take some longer trips, and will remove it (I think) during the majority of my Summer use. I'm leaning toward trying one of the Isotta screens, as I like their mounting system. I'm thinking about either the Large or the Medium, as the XL is likely overkill on this bike for me (5' 8").
I have zero experience with windscreens, as all of my bikes have either had little flyscreens, or been completely nekked. My research indicates I need to be careful not to create a worse problem than I already have, hence my thread reanimation here. I want to go big enough but I don't want to have the top edge of the screen right at level of sight as I'm riding, which would surely annoy said fek out of me.
Anyhoo, just curious about your thoughts and experiences. I'll have a go at posting pics of the screens here, but here are the stats of the two screens I'm leaning toward, as well as a couple of Givis that I might consider.

I have a National Cycle Street Shield EX and it is 18.5 inches from headlight to top. Buffeting wasn't bad, but noise was TERRIBLE. I raised it an inch above the headlight and installed one of those adjustable wings I got from Amazon. It isn't all that pretty, but it works very well for an extended ride. I liked the shield because once installed it can be removed and installed in a couple of minutes. This is the shield without the wing.

On my V7 III I tried a Dart Classic but found too much dirty air getting up under my helmet, so put on a Marlin. I am happy with that one....cleaned up the air nicely. I am 6'1" with 34" inseam, at least it used to be.

Saw a KLR 650 the had to be 10 years old with the warning sticker still obscuring the gauges so I never assume. :laugh:
