Title: Relocating oil blow by hose
Post by: JACoH on September 05, 2018, 07:04:04 PM
So, tired of the oil going into air cleaner box on my V7 III, going to add a catch bottle. Do you think it needs to have an exhaust port, hose or filter? Or can it just blow into a small bottle with only no outlet in case of pressure build up. I was using a Magnum tuning bottle, but it is too big. I'm planning on a small bottle about the size of a front master cylinder. And yes, I regularly keep oil level constant with 1750 ml, so not too much.

If you are making a breather catch can, it needs to vent to atmosphere. It has to "breathe" , you dont want it to build up pressure.

Thanks, I'll do it.  The Magnum bottle that I have is vented with a hose, adding to the size issues, just trying to find more room and not making it too obvious.

I made a catch can for my sons Harley XR from 2" black plastic sewer pipe , just cut to length, cap both ends, and drill/tap holes where needed. I made it about 4" long, vented with a small breather filter on top for the blowby.
I put it up under the tail, running hoses to it, with a drain back to the oil tank.
