Narrow bars, high pegs...............

Well at least they modded it up:

Quote
Triple Tree $995
Paint to Match $775
Tracking Increment Leanout Technology $775
Integrated Disc Brake System $620

If it had been a Quota or Californian ...........

Well...it does not look THAT bad (IMHO).

Probably a lot of fun to drive!! :thumb:    Champion makes a quality rig...

Assuming the question is not just rhetorical...

maybe they can't keep a bike upright anymore.

Maybe they love their bike and their SO,but their significant other hates riding on the back.

Maybe they lost a limb (know a guy that lost his leg and hack'd his panhead for this reason).

Maybe they've always wanted a sidecar, and putting a sidecar on the bike they own makes more sense than buying something new?

Nicely done! I'd like to own that.

Why would anyone do what I would not do? Because they are individuals with their own thoughts and desires.  I applaud them for not following the conventions of others.  Our greatest inventions came from people who didn't follow convention and didn't listen to naysayers.

Why would anyone put a BMW K-bike top-box on it?

I agree that it's an overall pretty cool rig. I'm not ready for one myself just yet, but I could imagine scenarios in the future where something like that would be a viable option.

I always liked that color on a V11, very interesting rig --

His idea, his bike, his money, that box is a tidy, neat box. Beaten paths are for beaten men.

Just because one or more of your legs quit working doesnt mean you dont want something that has enough power to roll down the road.

Thats an awesome rig, that appears to have been properly set up, with a nice fixture under the bike, and a nice rake added to the front end.
Its a very "European" looking rig to me, and I like that. I bet thats a rig that can easily cruise down the highway at 85+ with power, and braking to spare.
It may be a little over priced, but hey, its a dealer, that Im sure left some wiggle room in the asking price.I think for around 10K it would be a decent deal.
Rick.

I've a close friend who is almost home, after buying a 43 yr. old Guzzi, w/side car and towing a trailer. With his bride to be they left the West coast 15 days ago. They should be in MA today or tomorrow. The trip has not been w/out 'incidences'. No kidding! The pictures are great.
Paraphrasing what others have said; I'm on the cusp as well. Saw 5 Hannigan's all hung on Kawasaki 14's last Sunday, plus  another on a GSXR, 2 wx. ago. If anyone can't see a side car on a V11, I've a much loved Daytona.... Just kidding.  R3~

You can't have too much power on a rig. My Jack-All was barely enough. I think a V Max would be about right. <shrug>

It is worth the $ if you know anything about rigs.

For a perspective,  my 86 Cal2 rig cost $10K to make in 93, it had already a sidecar on it but not a front fork set-up.
A new tub & frame, mounts cause I donated my hack to the N. IL Sidecar training program.
I have put on 100K mi since then w/o any problems at all. Well worth the investment. That same sidecar today cost twice what I spent in 93 and it's all 16ga steel.
The guy that made my chair(Kurt Leibhaber) had one on a VMax for his own rig too.

I bet it drives real nice! I set up a California sidecar on a V65 Honda Sabre for a guy. Plenty o' power, there.

^^^^ Yeah, I saw it at a sidecar rally several years ago and thought," if I ever build another, it'll be like that." :thumb:

I would love to have this rig. Looks to be nicely set up, but I dunno if it'll sell for that price.

It sort of reminds me of hiring Angelica Jolie to be front of house in your high end restaurant, then hiding her out the back to scrub dishes in a sweaty kitchen and emptying the trash.
Ya' just wouldn't...
Would you..?

Thats an interesting way to look at things. I would keep Angelina Jolie "in the back", just to fatten her up a little bit, before putting her in the front of the restaurant.....Have you seen how skinny that poor girl has gotten? There wasnt much left of her, after her and Brad Pitt split up,mostly, just skin and bones!

You make a good point mate.
But.
The skin we get to see is stretched over a nicely structured pile of bones....!
Are we agreed..?
Oh and..
Just when I thought she couldn't get any better, turns out she's got her pilot's licence. I always thought I'd like to show her mine if she showed me hers, but I never knew about the licence...
Maybe she'll take me up in the Lear...

The biggest problem will be the way the swingarm mounts on spineys. Host of other issues but that, as it is with the CARC bikes, is the problem.

Sidecars are an anachronism from a different era. They need a different tug. That's why mine will be dragged by a Hydro Cali.

Hydro Cali.

I drove Sheldon Abut's hydro Cali rig, and it was very nice. Good bottom end torque to get it rolling.  :thumb:

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. This setup will be a nightmare for the level of maintenance . I'd expect something like an hour of maintenance for two hours of riding. If it handles well, it may be worth it. It's a cumulative thing, when it's time for maintenance, it's down for a while.

with those little narrow bars & raised pegs... I'd guess the pilot cant touch the ground on most motorcycles.. seems like a good excuse to hack it

I reckon that the reason half of the sidecars out there that exist do so because of dogs.

We got a small dog a few years ago so he could ride with us on the back but that didn't work out too well so we got a sidecar put on the Norge.  Yeah - sacrilege but it is nice.

And now we can have a bigger dog.

I'm sorry but I haven't figured out a way to do photo's here but I'd be happy to send you some.  It was done by Metalmorphasis in Kamloops which is Brock Smith, the son of the famous sidecar guru.

On the plus side, it's already got a ten spring clutch and you wouldn't have to hopup the engine right away. I'd own it
