Title: Can any Duc fans identify these headlight bits?
Post by: Mayor_of_BBQ on September 30, 2018, 09:44:28 AM
Ive seen these on a few bikes, can't figure out to original model they came on?

This pic is a moto borgotaro bike, said the headlight mounts are off a Ducati...  But what models/years? Did these ever appear on a bike with 35mm forks? (I THINK my v65 has 35mm forks?)

Early '70s Ducati 750GT, with I believe 38-mm forks.

Awesome! Second question...  WHat's y'alls vote on the best Duc parts outlet?   Like, who is the Harpers or Moto International, AF1 of Ducati parts?

Bevel heaven is the best you'll find in the US for old bevel Ducati parts.  More suppliers are overseas. I'm inclined to think you'll have difficulty finding those headlight brackets, parts for 750GTs are not available like parts for 70s Guzzis.

Thats weird, no re-pro stuff? I thought these were popular resto/collector bikes??

Ducati production was small by Guzzi standards of the 70s, limiting the size of the market.  There is some repro stuff out there.

I found them at Gownloch... https://ducati-gowanloch.com/shop/chassis-parts/ducati-headlight-brackets-750-gt/

Gowanloch is a well known supplier.  How about that price?  Bear in mind the Australian dollar is relatively inexpensive, and GST tax is not payable on exports.  You might find the same parts in the US someplace, if you don't want to order from Gowanloch.

PS Bevel Heaven has them, $207 US...  He thinks they're new old stock, I'd bet they are the same that Gownloch is selling.

The price is $208 USD for both, the set, from Bevel Heaven.  Still expensive, but the market will apparently bear it given that a GT is a $20K bike.

Yes expensive.    But don't think for too long .
A brand new old V7 goose headlight bracket costs100 euros nowadays .
