Title: Horn Install
Post by: davedel44 on December 03, 2018, 07:41:03 PM: Trying to install new louder single hor to replace the 2 weak horns on my 2013 V7 Stone. New horn is rated at 5amp old horns 1.2 amps each. Removed old horns plugged in new and it works great.
Now I have extra set of wires.

Was advised to splice the extra set together, but when and pressed horn button the horn fuse blew.

Ideas?

Suggestions?

Under the "If It Hurts When You Do That ... DON'T DO THAT!" rule, don't "splice" anything .... just slip a piece of shrink tube over the ends of each of the old wires, fold them back, and zip-tie them out of sight ....

Normally, one is power, the other is ground. Hooking them together and pushing the button causes a dead short. If the fuse *doesn't* blow.. "Houston, we have a problem.." :smiley:
