I KNOW dogs are here to be our angels. To make our life better.
Here is just one example.
12 year old child, buried under an avalanche for FORTY MINUTES!
Chance of survival, according to expert S&R, almost none.
The rescue dog had his own beliefs.

I believe you are right about the relationship between our fur babies and ourselves. The proof is simple, it hurts terribly when we loose them.

Great story. Thanks for sharing. Just finished a great book about a special dog in the White mountains. Check out Following Atticus by Tom Ryan.

Have lost 2 this year & our 3rd is 12. Not good.
I think there'll be more dogs in Heavan than people based on my experience.
-
That's because more dogs than people have earned it.

Nothing like a std. or giant Schnauzer, best companion dog ever! And a great watchdog too.

A few weeks ago, I posted a story on George Bush passing.
I mistakenly copied the wrong info.
You all got a laugh...
Before I could edit it, I got a knock on the door.
My neighbor's 8 year old grandson went missing.
She said the boy went looking for his missing senior dog.
We live on waterfront, so we all panicked. Water temps. are really cold here now.
She asked if one of my rescues could help. He's got quite a reputation!
He tracked him down, about a half mile away.
Unfortunately, we never found his dog. I believe the dog fell in the water and drowned.
No sign of another animal harming him.
Not the first missing person Yogi has found, plenty of missing dogs too.
Yogi is a rescued Shepherd mix. Had a tough puppyhood, found in the woods, tied to a tree.
Aggressive to everything at first, he was going to be put down.
I volunteered to bring him in to be PTS.
Yeah, right, that wasn't going happen. I brought him home with me
Now he LOVES every person, dogs, cats, even squirrels and geese.
Here he is with one of his "brother" rescues Dozer

Here is a couple of my 4 partners I had the privilege of working with over a 20 year K9 career in Forsyth Co. NC. You get real attached to a dog you work with every day and put your life in their paws and they put their life in your hands.

I keep containers of water in my truck at all times. When I see a k-9 team, I always ask if they need some, and wish them safety.
In my area they sometimes get stuck doing traffic duty.

That's a very kind and thoughtful act, Yodi. I thank you Sir:)

Will relate a short story . Early this month a friend who lives in Washington state thought his companion/service dog was permanently paralyzed from an accident . My friend is ex-infantry Vietnam , kinda looks and sounds like a bear , but he was really broken up over this . He swore me to secrecy , but just today we learned that his best friend was recovering and regaining the use of his hind legs , so maybe Dave won't mind me sharing his joy over the recovery of Newt the Dachshund .

Best wishes to Newt, and thanks to your friend for not giving up on him.

It was his wife who insisted on the second opinion , Dave had resigned himself to the worst . Hmm , there is a lesson here ...

You're right Dusty. Our 12 year old mix breed, Pit/coonhound, picture on my first post, had 5 surgeries on both back legs due to torn ACL's in a 3 year period in the middle of her life. We had to lift her 55lb butt everywhere she went for the most part of 3 years. For the past 2 years she has had no further issues but we guard her activity because at her age another operation would be devastating for her, besides 5k is hopefully all we will have to spend on he, although we woukd to add further good life.
Here is a picture of the bike cart we built to haul her butt around on our beach stays at our place at the beach.

Would be good to give your girl Glucosamine and Chondroitin. Sometimes it's not easy to keep them from jumping and hurting themselves.
I'm in the habit of lifting them in and out of my truck and Jeep.
Buy the pills at Walmart, not a vet. Much cheaper.

Dogs are here to teach us how to act , aren't they .
Some years back we had a long haired Dachshund who began having some trouble negotiating the back steps into the house , built her a ramp , then had to add side boards because one of our large dogs started having some balance issues and almost fell off the ramp . At first the big dogs eyed the ramp with suspicion , then the little one showed them it was OK .

Good idea, at a shelter I was at, the drain channel was just outside the kennel door.
There was a senior dog that had very limited eyesight. I built a "walkway" for him to get over it.
Took him a little to get used to it, but he eventually did.
A really nice couple adopted him, and he lived out his life like a king!
Went on walks, shared their bed, was given lots of love.
I did check ups on him, and he was so happy always.

Yea she gets those supplements in a jerky treat every day and I'm very familiar with the everyday lifting thing as that's been our job for around 6 years now. Funny thing is, we really don't mind at all❤️❤️❤️
