Hi all. With a new year comes a price increase from some of the services that allow you to read this post without fear of subcriptions, hijackers, spyware, malware, viruses, etc. We've been relatively lucky as we haven't had any increases in a few years. I've already received notification that our hosts are going up in 2020 as well, due to their costs increasing (mainly electricity). But, we're not going to worry about that particular issue just yet.
However, a couple of our vendors have decided on a price increase this year. I don't like it, but it is what it is. We're going from a $3456 cost to maintain this site per year to $3636. Not a bank breaker by any means, but a couple hundred dollars is still the equivalent to a rear tire in my book. Here's a breakdown of the charges and what increased:
Hosting - $149 per month, (after discount) if paid in full for 12 months. Total cost: $1788 per year.
Managed Services - $99 $109 per month. Total cost: $1188 $1308 per year.
Control Panel - $30 per month. Total cost: $360 per year.
Site Security - $10 $15 per month. Total cost: $120 $180 per year.
The reason I'm posting this now is because in 2018, we didn't meet our donation goal until November. We met it, but it was later than usual. We usually meet our goal in August/September.
So, I'd bet you can read in between the lines. :thumb: You can always check the donation status by looking to the top right of your screen, or clicking here
www.wildguzzi.com/donations.htm
In the past, some have suggested I move the site to a more budget friendly host. It's not going to happen. I do not miss the days of 88% up-time. I've love the last 3-4 years of 99.9% up time and when something goes awry and I cant fix it, I can call my support and they have it fixed in about 10 minutes. So, if you have a host you prefer, sorry, I won't even consider it so save your email. This aint broke, so I aint fixing it
Thanks all and keep the rubber on the road,
Luap

Well, let's meet it early then!! And don't be "day-trading" Dow index funds with the rent money - Dow's up 5,000 points in the last few years .... hang in there for the long term!

Thanks again to you and the mod squad for all you do for us!
All the best for 2019.

It's worth every penny for all I've learned from this forum, however I'd still like to know the story behind this!

Maybe a fishing trip is order

2019 donation made !
I may never have embraced the marque if not for this forum. Whether I regard that as a good thing or not has been known to vary on occasion 😄

OK, donation done (confession, 1st in 6 years) - but now is better than never!
Better contact your "Managed Services" team for a tweak because this is the first thing that a visitor to http://wildguzzi.com/ (http://wildguzzi.com/)
sees below the Flying Eagle logo: "3,000+ visiters per day and counting!" "visiters" ?? :boozing:
Thanks for all your collective work. I couldn't Guzzi without it!

Many thanks to all. This is a great site with some great people. Hope to have the CalStone sorted well enough to make a rally or two this year and put some faces to the names.

Thanks for the reminder - guilt IS a powerful motivator. Right up there with shame.

Hey Luap, it's a long shot but is WildGuzzi a 501(c) or anything that's tax deductible?
I donated but would happily take a deduction if I can.

Contribution made. Thanks to Luap and the mods!

Done.
$ well spent!
Thank you for all your efforts.

Nope. I have to pay taxes on all donations too.

Luap, Done;
I'm one of those guys that has the spare cash to send your way, to add another log on to the virtual campfire you tend for us.
Know in your heart, that although I usually slide in just before the end of the year to make a donation, that's an indication of my inability to take care of shit in my life, not the level of appreciation for your efforts and WG.
I just wish our Canuckistan dollars didn't take such a shit kicking when they cross the 49th parralel, headed south your way, lol.
Everyone has their own challenges in life, my rollercoaster has had some special twists. My security has always been under attack to some degree, but in the last couple of years, it went up a couple of notches, as a result, my dog was poisoned(doing fine) and every digital device in my life was under attack, by an extremely motivated capable person. In our digital based world, I've painfully learned, there is no such thing as absolute security.
Through chaotic times, being able to pull up a chair, and savour the warm glow of this virtual campfire, with like minded folk, is priceless, gratitude.
I am particularly thankful, that not only is Luap's heart in the right place, for Bikes, Brand and Board, but he has an excellent working knowledge of how to make this virtual campfire as stable, safe and secure as possible, for everyone gathered around it.
If you can't afford to donate, don't worry about it, pull up a chair, you're welcome here.
If like me, this place is worth a million bucks to you, and you're slow to act on your good intentions, take a minute to add your own log to this virtual campfire that Luap's tending for us.
I owe the board some posts, but just to throw some guzzi content in while I've got the mic.
Charlie had kindly sent me some exhaust gaskets for my Lemans CX100, after some hamfisted knuckle dragging ape, f*cked up the new ones previously installed,,, that would be me,lol.
KiwiRoy kindly and patiently guided me though my charging problems, and I discovered, that that same ham fisted ape, had inadvertently pulled off the R/R sensing connection, while wrestling with the slippery oil covered Italian girl, when she had lost her balance on my bike lift,,, silly girl, lol.
With header gaskets, electrical power, new suspension and higher bars, I was in back road bliss for a while, until I noticed scarf in the tranny fluid, shortly after a false neutral hissy fit from hell. The tranny still works and sounds fine, but after a second oil drain with scarf, I had to pull it off the road, it will be be coming out of the bike at some point.
Being down a sporty ride, secure in the knowledge, that KiwiRoy, who was now riding a Griso 1100 as my electrickery security blanket, I picked up a well owned 2007 Griso 1100 with a Beetle map already installed. Roper is right, the Griso is a most magnificent, twisty back road bike.
Ride safely and often
Thanks to you all, that make this place what it is,Luap, mods, contributors, even the lurkers like me, lol, with much appreciation from north of the 49th
