I've been looking for a nice Bultaco or Ossa for many years now. Lusted after a bike like this when in high school in the early 70's. Those Spanish bikes would always spank my Yamaha DT250.
Finally found a real nice original example. It does need some work, speedo is missing and the original IRZ carb was replaced with an Amal. It does have all the original carb parts though so I want to take it back to original. Gas tank does not leak (all body parts are very thin fiberglass) but it does have checking and cracking on all glass parts. I'll likely have to add another thin layer of glass over everything to smooth and strengthen so will have to repaint as well. It has a title and I do intend to ride it.
Premix only and I'll use ethanol free fuel as I do in all my other classic bikes. So now I can cross off a Spanish bike from my list. I'm stoked.

There needs to be some sort of celebration marking the 20th motorcycle in the shed .... !
I rode a companion bike to this one last year, a Bultaco Matador. They sure are light and handy bikes, lots of torque, buzzy in the high RPMs so don't use that much, and compared to the modern highly-plasticked and tall-suspension 250s, they feel like a BMX bike.

I'll betcha I'm about the same age as you, and back in the late 70's in Michigan, we took a thrashed version of that bike and put special ice-screws in the tires and ice-raced it on a local lake. By that time the Jap motocross/enduro revolution had made the Ossa obsolete as a competitive dirt bike, but on the ice, once you got the rear wheel to break loose, that rascal would really slide well!

Yes, the quote wet at 242lbs. I believe it. When I test rode it and went to pull it off the side stand I about tossed it right over. Way lighter than my RT1 360 Yamaha. Thing has wicked compression and that left side kick will take some getting used to. Motor is very very tight. We guess the bike has barely 1000 miles as the original tires that were on it still looked new.
That IRZ carb will be a challenge. 2 needles in the slide, 1 for low range, 1 for hi. I've done a lot of carbs in my time but nothing like that. I want it original though as all the period tests indicate it worked very well.

Wow, a friend bought one new. I never rode it that I recall but I liked it. I still have a thing for Spanish 2 strokes.

COOL! Back in the 70's at the trials events we Bultaco riders called the OSSA Oh Shit Stuck Again! (all in fun of course) ENJOY the Wonderful smell! Golden Spectro is one of my favorite aromas :thumb:

Watching a Ossa stiletto 250 race at a Portland Motocross track still sticks in my mind.(72?)It cleaned up on everything once the rain/mud hit.. :cool:Just hooked up! The sound of doing so is still clear as a bell..bet my friend remembers it too..

Wow, sure makes me feel good about what I gave for mine. Can't wait to get wrenching on it and all the little things straightened out.

Congrats! One of my wish list bikes back in the '70's as well. Good thing I wasn't at Vegas or I would have bid on those two Bultacos that went for one money at what I thought was stupid cheap.

Not sure the vendors name but an OSSA guy at Barber Vintage Event. Has a lot of stuff, someone here will know of him and if a good vendor to deal with. Great looking bike, enjoy and good luck with it!!!
