My experience in this realm is primarily with 2 strokes, so take it with a grain. Modding an EFI 4 stroke motor beyond simple air box/exhaust flow will have both consequences on your wallet and the reliability of the machine.
Other things to look at will be a reputable Dyno shop and fuel mapping for EACH mod you may choose.
High lift cams.
Winded crank.
Shaved heads.
Porting.
It all comes with benefits and problems. Much of these type of mods are necessary before intake boring becomes necessary (IMO)
If your intent is just to go fast....buy a croch rocket.

Oh, and also forgot...increasing airflow in a fuel/air chamber can cause unwanted turbulence or reduced/uneven fuel atomization due to a low pressure zone depending on where the injector is placed and how it was engineered.

I do not know if it is available for a guzzi, but there may be "noisy" relays that are made to be audible.

Depends on whether the ECU is capable of providing sufficient fuel to accommodate the additional air, AND whether the maximum benefit of the increase would occur within the current operating limits of the engine (redline) if both of those requirements are met, then you could figure around 6% increase in power at full throttle.

Re an earlier statement I made:  "NEVER believe the claims of anyone trying to sell you something."   Maybe I should have been less aggressive since that makes it sound like everybody that is selling something is misleading people and that is not correct.  The problem is that you don't KNOW until you do some research OR you know the person/company you are dealing with and know you can rely on what they say.  So, a better recommendation would probably be the old Ronald Reagan statement, "Trust but verify!"

General Discussion / 1000SP dash coverage
« Last post by monkeyodeath on Today at 12:46:46 AM »
Recently got a 1000SP ('79) where the PO had rather drastically pruned all the dash wiring in order to run the bike naked and with one of those "cafe-style" minimal aluminum dashes. Even removed the wiring for the gauge backlights, which was annoying.

I'm kind of a geek for old-school instruments (especially clocks) so I got a replacement harness from Greg Bender and restored the old dash to its expansive, rubber-surround glory.

Problem is that now I have the requisite rat's nest of dash wires. (Exacerbated by the fact that my bike has a pre-circuit board dash) Not an issue when I'm using the fairing, but I'd like to be able to take the SP fairing off from time to time without having a bundle of wires visibly crammed in above the headlight.

Is the solution here to get a LeMans-style minimalist fairing for when I want to run the bike in non-touring mode? Did Guzzi ever make any kind of lower cover to hide the dash wiring for these big dashes (like on the T3/G5) or was it always covered up by the fairing?

"I think the engine does sound a bit more "clacky" now but my understanding is that that clackiness is normal after you adjust valves"

ASSUMING everything is mechanically/structurally OK, the only way the engine should sound "more clacky" after a valve adjustment is if the valve settings were too tight before the adjustment.  Normally, the operating clearance enlarges over time which is the reason for valve adjustments - to reduce the clearance back to the spec which also reduces the "clatter."  The greater the clearance, the greater the "clatter."

General Discussion / Indicators Always on.

So the 850T has no indicator warning light and I am always leaving them on.
I was thinking of adding a bright LED around the dash but now thinking of a beeper/ buzzer.
Have seen someone wire in a buzzer to left and right indicators with some diode in line that only allows flow one way but as electrical work is a dark art to me has anyone got a suggestion?
