Road Trip to Kearny, AZ
« on: April 09, 2019, 08:28:07 AM »
...to historic Kearny, AZ.  Nothing there, really, except a few copper mines, but the scenery and roads are good.  Riding with Ducati-Mike and Triumph-Bill, my friends and neighbors.  Visiting an old friend who lives there.  Weather now is nice...so why not?  More photos / details forthcoming... :thumb:

I will be on the infamous "Yellow Horse", aka my '98 Centauro GT....mainly because I rode Moby Dick the last time I visited Kearny (Feb. 2016).

395 miles total...fun ride...a little windy on Wed., but the views were worth it...Thurs. ride home was calm and sunny.

Bikes ran great.  The Ducati and Triumph average 45-50 MPG...the best I could do on the Guzzi was 36 MPG. :thumb:

The only casualty was my helmet, which blew off the mirror at Roosevelt Dam...hit the concrete and broke three-four pieces off.  See duct tape photo.

Good on ya. Nice place to visit. BTDT. I've also visited the other Kearny, - often. It's in NJ, near NYC. I have stories of no interest at all.
OK. Just this. The main drag is 'Paterson Plank Road'. And this: Jimmy Hoffa may be buried there.  R3~

Thanks for the reminder, JJ,

Love Arizona!  My good and long time friend, Ginny, and I used to cage it from her home in San Tan Valley (formerly Queen Creek) on picnics at Canyon Lake, or simply drive a bit further to Tortilla Flat, to the end of the paved road, and enjoy having lunch at the restaurant.  Other trips were overnights to Prescott, where we stayed at the Hasayampa Inn.  Next day, we were typically off to the neat old mining town of Jerome.

We drove the long way back from Tucson once, and went through the Kearney area. Talk about having it all to oneself!

I'm going to miss my old friend.  She passed Jan 31st after a two year bout with ALS.  I may want to fly out, rent a bike, and retrace many of our really fun trips in Arizona.
