That's a very nice looking chair. What, if anything, are you doing about the steering geometry! The Cali 14 is such a huge, slow steering, long trail monster of a thing I'd think it will be a pig to drive if the forks aren't fixed. They'll twist up like limp spaghetti if you run stock trail. You might make it bearable with silly toe-in but it'll cost in fuel and tyres and will still feel like wrestling a polar bear unless things are 'Perfect'.
Believe me, I'm no chair expert, that's why I'm paying someone who knows what they are doing for assistance with setting up mine! He's a bit further away than your bloke. Mine's in Townsville in Queensland. Three days away! My maiden voyage will be from there to Bungendore. Although I've got some history with sidecars my last 'Ownership' was nearly 40 years ago! No, I've suggested Jude NOT hop in the chair for the ride home! :D
