Late offer..
« on: April 18, 2019, 04:57:36 AM »
I don’t know why anyone would, but I’ll be leaving London for Dover around May 6 for Dover/Calais, then across Europe to the Black Sea and down to Turkey, then follow the coast of Greece, Bosnia,  Italy, France, Spain etc..
Giz a shout if you want to do some (or all) in company and we’ll meet.
Free cappucino’s @ Calais as usual.
Looks tempting...No ?

Huzo!
Imagining (pun intended), your pictures are often taken by chance, you take enough time to compose shots worth remembering.
Thank you for sharing.  Good fortune,  R3~

Thanks mate.
I saw a documentary on the Brooklyn Bridge. Are you related to the chief engineer ?
Anyway..
Yes I need to take shots with an identifying something in the mix. For instance the Arctic Circle one was on the Atlantic Road trip to Nordkapp before the drop down into Geiranger.
I’m a thorough bastard for forgetting where I was at various times after I get home. At least this way I can Google Earth an image and re trace my steps.
I will shoot lots of Go Pro and post on You Tube with my 2014/15/17 trips.

Here’s an interesting example of three shots telling a story.
These are two images of the Arctic Circle..
One in Norway and one in Finland.
(A fair bit of riding in between to a little place called Nordkapp...
My favourite is a thing I did in 2013 while I was working full time.
Here is a sot I took on my kitchen table in Australia. It’s the cover of a Michelin Road Atlas as you can see.
I was enthralled at the image and resolved to one day go there, so to that end I googled the location and street viewed it.
It’s called the “Bridge to Nowhere” on the Atlantic road in the province of Molde on the West Coast of Norway.

Fast forward to 2015 and I entered the location into my Tom Tom in Calais and headed off... :bike-037:
Standing on the same patch of ground..
This is my shot..

For me the images are more than the sum of their parts.
It’s the effort, excitement, dedication and what ever else is required to match the second shot.
These two (for me)...?
Say it all..

Yes.
There’s a video on You Tube.
2017 Europe Trip Pete Hughes
The first 3 minutes and the last 3 minutes are memorable for me because these two scenes seem to encapsulate the emotion that I had at the time.
A bit romantic I’ll admit, but I like it more than photo’s...

 Hey Huzo
You'd have to think we'd cross paths somewhere wouldn't you. Do you have a detailed route planned.
Not sure if this'll work but attached is a link to our intended journey:

Ok mate now I’ve got more time.
My “plan” is to leave Calais around May 7 or so and duck across Europe via Holland, Germany and Italy (perchance to ride a V85), then to the Black Sea.
Down then to Turkey for a coffee in Istanbul then from there, follow the Coast to Gallipoli and then up and around the Adriatic, to arrive at Sicily for a ride up Mt Etna.
Then Coastal again around France and Spain back to Calais.
I don’t know where I’ll be exactly on any particular date, but I’m meeting a guy doing a rally in Albania early June, so I can be fairly sure I’ll be in that district about then.
Always easy to nominate a small village with a Mc Donald’s and rendezvous at an arranged time.
