engine rattles

hi all
it is one of the hotest days here in israel around 42 degrees Celsius.
i was riding up hill  and the engine started to rattle under pressure
i shifted 2 gears down,was a little better.is it normal in such a weather?
a stoped for half an hour,and no more rattle.i have a v7 iii special
what  are your thought,can it be because of the heat? did anyone ever experience with this phenomenon?

A. buy the highest octane gas you can find.
B. if you dropped 2 gears you were lugging it to death. Keep it at 4000 or above especially in 4-6ht gear.

Try a folder plug.

In the early days of the V7 Special, I had significant grief in mid 40's temps and peak hour traffic. Turned out to be an overfilled crankcase (2.00L is too much), which pushed oil into the airbox - soaked the air filter and down into the throttle body. Cleaning the oil from the airbox, and from down the air inlet to the throttle body (throttle body cleaner & paper towels), a little less oil in the crankcase, & a new filter solved that problem. I don't know if the III is the same, but it's worth checking.  Note that the coating of oil in the manifold between the throttle body and the inlet ports didn't seem  to affect running - there was still the oil coating there when I removed the manifold recently, some 70,000km later.

I think this is good advice. While 42 C is hot it's normal in many parts of Australia and is probably harder on the rider than the bike.
What's the quality of fuel like in Israel - can you get hi octane ethanol free fuel ?

Very happy. The Special is a 2014 model (with the black & orange tank) and has only done 106,000km. This one has had significantly less mechanical & electrical issues than the 2010 Classic (199,000km). But I'm very happy with both of them.

Check that the nuts keeping the exhaust pipes are tight. They some times gets loose wich causes a lot of noise.

Here's some of the other nuts & bits I've had come loose:-

Headlight loose on the bucket - causes rattles that change with the revs - check that the lip on the plastic bucket isn't broken.
Horns
Bolts holding the pillion footpegs
Lower shock bolts
Rearset backing plate mounting bolts
Side cover bolts
I regularly forget to tighten the muffler clamps - there's a rattle then.
Had a mysterious rattle when the front wheel bearings were about to collapse. Couldn't find it until the wheel moved when lent on.
The stock header pipe's inner sleeve can lose its spot welds - then rattles.
The innards of the muffler can get loose somehow. There will be rattles then.

the best way to isolate muffler rattles is to slap the end of the muffler sharply.
