Quick question, V7II Transmission Oil

Quick question.  The V7II Owners manual calls for the use of 75w-90 and 85w-140 transmission oils, but it doesn't say which to use where.  I know one is for the rear drive and one is for the transmission, but which is which?

Surely somebody knows the answer to this?  The fluids are drained and I would love to get back on the road.  Just reread the manual but no help because Guzzi decided the bike has 2 transmissions that require two different transmission oils.  But I cannot find even a vague clue as to which is which.

Thanks for the replies, but are you sure about those quantities?  The manual mentions 170cc and 500cc (but again, does not say which is which).  However, there was not 500cc in the rear drive.  It was more like 170 (I caught the drainage in about 1/3 of a cut off oil bottle and it filled about half way).

The key to filling the rear drive is to fill from the top until oil starts to spill out the hole about half way up the rear of the bevel box.  That is supposed to be 500cc but the actual amount could be + or - a bit.  Sounds like yours was under filled at the last change.  I have heard more than one owner who got the two oil amounts confused and only put 170cc in the rear drive.

So the implication is that only 170 goes into the trans?  A lot more came out of the trans than the rear when I drained them. 

The reason I am changing the fluids is that I am having an oil seep between the engine and trans, and someone on here told me to make sure that the trans only had 500ml in it vs. 1000ml because some earlier V7's called for 1000.  So I thought I would just change the fluids. Now it sounds like it should only have 170, so I am kind of getting conflicting info.

The thinner oil is for the 6 speed transmission.    The thicker oil is for the final drive mounted to the rear wheel. 

The 170 ml is for the final drive.   That’s the way it is on my 2013 Stone.  You couldn’t get 500 cc into the final drive. 

The larger volume is for the 6 speed transmission.  My 2013 takes a full quart, but they redesigned the transmission, and it takes less oil now.

Also when doing the gearbox don’t forget to pull the little filter from the drain hole & clean it . Mine had quite a bit of sealant on it , I’m guessing from assembly.

God I'm getting old!!! Sorry I blew it!
the rear end is 170 cc about 5.6OZ of 85/140 but fill from the big level hole (Forget the fill hole up top it's too small) until it just starts to come out. I use it level on the center stand so it's not quite touching the top of the hole when level on two wheels. If you put in 6 ounces it will blow it out the top. ask me how I know! the 6 speed is suposed to be 500 cc but many are saying 450 because the quantities they give are for a dry unit.  And yes make sure you pull the nylon screen out each time and the fill plug or it won't drain completely.

Sorted. I avoid using confusing words like "transmission" and stick with final drive or bevel box for the blob hanging off the rear wheel, and gearbox for the blob hanging off the engine. And, by the way, avoid synthetic 140 for the final drive, stick to mineral 85-140. The synthetics seem to leak past the seals in the final drive. If, however, anyone has used a synthetic & has the leak, mixing in 20-30ml of a thickener (I use Nulon G70) with the mineral oil stops the leaking.

I've always heard that about using dino oil in the final drive.  For what it's worth, however, I've always used synthetic Mobil 1 in the final drive, and it has never leaked.  I figured I'd switch to mineral oil if it ever does leak.

The thing on top of the rear drive isn't a fill hole, it's a small vent.
