2007 Griso 1100 no start

I thought I was facing startus interruptus ...and maybe I am. On pressing the start button I get a loud click from my solenoid and immediately the screen goes blank and the the starter does not turn. I replaced the battery with new which shows 12.5 volts. I ran a new 12 gauge line from the solenoid to the starter relay ( most forward relay in bank behind seat cowl right side) replacing the 20 gauge  yellow orange line. cleaned grounds  but still same click, dead screen, and no start. The screen returns after several seconds if the key is left on. What am I missing? Side stand Interlock? Tried it with side stand up, down, in gear, neutral, clutch in, out, no start. Thoughts?

I would try to jump the relay, by running a hot wire directly to the solenoid from the battery and see if it cranks.
if it does its a bad connection, if it doesn't its either the battery, solenoid or starter.

I am having the same issue on my Breva.  I bought a new battery and still had the same issue.  Did the bypass also, but mine cranks if I run it directly to the battery.  but my new battery won't hold a charge so I believe its the battery that is the problem, so will order a new one.  If I jump it to my jeep it cranks no problem, so it has to be not getting enough amps to crank I would think.

Sounds like you are pulling the Voltage down for sure but just to be certain take a meter or test light and measure the battery right on the posts, Not on the wires connected.
Does it still pull the Voltage down?
How about at the relay / 3 terminal (Startus Interruptus)
If not check your ground connection and scrape clean both battery terminals, apply Vaseline
Check also the positive at the solenoid.

Actually I think on your bike the relay 3 terminal is always alive.

From Old Heads post, I thought to try charging the new battery eliminating that as a problem. it now starts! However taking Kiwi Roy's advice, I checked output of the alternator at the battery with the bike running and found 14.15 volts regardless of engine rpm. I thought voltage would run up to its max output with increasing rpm. Has my voltage regulator crashed and taken battery cells with it? How to check?

Not necessarily the Voltage does seem a little on the high side but you just charged it, leave it for a couple of days and see how it is.
A lead acid cell can get as high as 2.5 Volt (15 Volts) under certain circumstances.
Make a note of the voltage several times a day for the next while but don't put it on charge.

As I noted earlier the 07 Griso has the relay's 3 terminal fed from fuse C which is always alive but do a quick check with a test light or meter, unplug the relay and see if it's alive with the key Off, I was surprised to find that so on mine. The later Griso's have the relay fed from a switched fuse, a step backwards.
Startus interruptus is caused by too much resistance in the feed to the solenoid, it would like to pull 50 Amps for a split second while the solenoid pulls in, at that current it only takes a fraction of an Ohm to drop a lot of Voltage (e.g. 50Amp x 0.1 Ohm = 5 Volts)
You replaced the wire from relay to solenoid with 14 gauge, excelent

I've had this a couple of times on my '07 Griso...  Mine turned out to be the ground strap just above (or behind a bit of) the starter motor.  Mine will get a slight layer of corrosion and I clean up the connections and I'm good for another 2 to 3 years - (I live right on the Chesapeake Bay,  salt air is a thing) -
