Road to Snow shoe.

I'm heading to Snowshoe WV end of July. Does anybody have a good/fun route to get there? I'm trying to make up for the dull drum of " The Great American desert east." Denver to the rivers. I'm coming from Denver, heading to Snow shoe. For the RoadRUNNER magazine Touring weekend. I think I might do US 60 from Charleston if not further west to US 219 north to Slaty Fork and hey 66. Unless one of you might have a better idea.

Where are you coming from?
Hard to find a bad riding road in WV as long as you stay off the interstates. I was out yesterday and had the usual great time, apart from the rain.

Route 50 is awesome! Don’t know how close you’ll be to it. All good riding over all!

Don't know where you're coming from so I can't suggest routes. Snowshoe is atop Cheat Mountain in Pocahontas County, WV. The entire county is rich with things to see and do. Great biking roads! Depending on your interests you may want to visit the nearby National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Greenbank or the Cass Scenic Railroad in Cass. Welcome to the Wild and Wonderful!

I've ridden 60 through that area a number of times. Hard to find anything that is disappointing. Visit the Cass railroad if you are a gearhead and watch all of the gears and pistons cranking.

Just now got home from a 1400 mile trip on the Stelvio that ended with taking US60 from Charleston to Lexington, VA, and just went past Snowshoe, well sorta.
As everyone has said, NO bad roads to Cass/Snowshoe/Green Bank. Take your pick, or better yet, pick from a map and then propose it to the panel just to make sure ...

It really depends on the bike you will be on. If you can go gravel there are tons of really cool routes. As an example near Greenbank Observatory is a place called Laurel Fork (used for ADV rallys.) At the little "town" of Alpena take Glady Run Rd. It is paved and better than Tail of the Dragon. To go through towards Laurel Fork you will be on Middle Mountain Rd which is all dirt. 33 from Harrisonburg, VA to Seneca Rocks is a nice sweeping paved road. There is a lot to explore down there.
