To help with both rocket and Guzzi content..  Take a ride through the NM desert to Roswell.  Whether you do the UFO scene (or not) want to stand atop a decommissioned ICBM silo (or not) while you're there, make sure to visit Dr Robert Goddard's preserved workshop at the Goddard Rocket Lab Museum complete with all his actual equipment from his studies & experiments in rocketry. If you like to make things, like old machinery and like rockets, it's well worth seeing.  https://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g47182-d270970-i115150379-Roswell_Museum_Art_Center-Roswell_New_Mexico.html

And while you're there, stop in nearby at Farley's for refreshment.  Just inside the front door, you'll be greeted by a blue Loop frame Guzzi.  It's a little crispy in spots from a fire in the past, but not bad.

I haven't been to Roswell for a couple of years, but expect it hasn't changed much...

Rocket racing airplanes are sexy.

Rocket cars are not sexy ...

... if you tailgate.

We use Solid Rocket Boosters at work.  Ours are 3 foot long and burn for 3 seconds.  Alignment is crucial.

Whoever the reporter is, he needed to do more research before putting out his story.

If anyone has any interest in the hobby rocketry, the annual launch at Argonia, Ks is labor day weekend. This year it is expanded to 5 days. The annual LDRS is hosted by the Kloudbusters club. Will have launches from small estes rockets to large amateur rockets. They have altitude waiver to 50k. Is free to come and watch. Walk the flight line and see the many vendors and flyers projects. Food vendors on site. The roasted corn on cob is a treat!

Folks come from across the stasts and other countries to attend.

Just search Kloudbusters on google and youtube for more info.

If you have any intrest in this hobby, this is the launch to see. Excellent hosts, miles of open farm land for recovery. Video doesnt do a large rocket justice, you gotta see and hear it in person.

OK, fair enough, I know very little on the specifics of rocketry . What would you change or add?  What do you use the three footers for,  weather research ?  Can you take the failures home?

Just oil up your inline skates and strap that to your butt.  Oh, and make certain your insurance is covered.

Nope- if you're gonna build a rocket car, don't just make a chitty chitty bang bang contraption.  Show proper respect to Wile E. Coyote and build a real one!

My hands down, no exceptions, absolute favorite rocket escapade of all time.  The only way it could have been better would have been to have ACME painted in giant letters on that awesome machine-

That's an incredible amount of time, money, and construction to prepare for something that was never going to work .... 30 gees will break anyone's back.   A Lincoln Continental is not going to stay in one piece in those conditions.   And just like Evel trying to jump the Snake River, the parachutes popped out right off the end of the ramp ....

I guess it was one of those things you had to try .... ?

At least Evel's machine had an aerodynamic chance. Just goes to show you that even if you have a *lot* of money, you can still be dumb as a post..
