Suspect Ad Scam?
« on: June 01, 2019, 10:03:06 AM »
This Moto Morini 500 is on Ebay, nothing special about the deal except for the description of where the bike is located and why, it's the word for word description this seller has used for other rare Italian bikes in the past. Last year it was a Benelli 750 Sei, I looked up the warehouse in New Jersey and tried to speak to someone but got nowhere. The story with the 750 Sei was a collector was accumulating a container of bikes to send to Europe and then either the collector passed away or ran out of money and could not pay to get the bikes out of the warehouse....

Regardless of the claimed mileage it is a 1978 not a 76' the 500 was 1st made in 78, I think its a $3k bike on a good day, add says no reasonable offer refused ..... $2500 would be reasonable. It's the identical make and model I restored last year, parts availability is good.

Yeah , the entire thing looks suspect . In the description it claims the bike is both a Ducati and a Moto Morini , it also claims this is a private seller while showing a lot full of other bikes , one of which is an airhead with a Vetter fairing . Run don't walk .

When the owner is "overseas", working on an "oil platform", "in Afghanistan", or 3000 miles from the bike "in Los Angeles", it's 90% sure to be a scam.   There's thus a "cutout" between you and the scammer.

Classic.

Take a look at the percentage of feedback as a buyer versus as a seller.  It does look like he is operating as a broker for the warehouse.  If I were interested in spending 6000 dollars on junk I would ask to make an appointment to view the bikes in person.  If he comes up with some excuse saying inspection can't be done, then I would walk.
