Moto Richmond Visit
« on: December 11, 2019, 05:30:17 PM »
Was South of Richmond today and took a few minutes to run past Richmond's Guzzi/Triumph dealer. Seems like a great shop. Well laid out, friendly and knowledgeable staff, was VERY refreshing to see a Guzzi Dealer doing it right. Unlike the mess of my most local dealer, which is just terrible..... They obviously cater more to Triumph, but also had Guzzi, KTM and a few other brands on the floor. I made an appt to get my MGMP module updated to V2.5, and have them give the thumbs up or do the recall on my MC. I did the test and it seems GTG, but figure I'll have them take a look. I also asked them to look at my gauges. The LED back lighting is very dim to my eyes, and a few weeks ago, they fogged up and left streams/drip lines from the condensation. Maybe they will replace them.  Their shop has a good reputation.

On the floor they had 3-4 V7's including a new Racer and V7 with the LED lights, a couple V85's, an Audace and v9 Bobber Sport.  The more I look at the Bobber Sport, I like it. My main complaint is one towards Guzzi in general is the matte paint..... I'm TOTALLY over the Matte paint schemes..... I get doing one or two, but 90%??? Seems lazy to me, and very one dimensional. The Bobber Sport would be transformed painted in a nice gloss red with polished aluminum exhaust and other bits....

Most of the bikes were Triumph's, and the 2019 models are VERY impressive, particularly their special model 1200 Scrambler, and a Stunning special version of the Thruxton. The attention to detail on the bikes is breathtaking. Both had me looking at the possibility of a modern Triumph. Up till now, they were meh..... And by the way, in all the Triumphs on the sales floor, NOT ONE with Matte Paint other than one of the Speed Triples.

The Thruxton XT TFC special suspension, exhaust, light treatments, and beautifully done paint scheme with a gloss grey real carbon fiber cafe fairing. VERY nice seating position. Get this... a Vance & Hines Exhaust. This is a very limited model, and fromw what I understand, you CANT order any of the special parts unless you prove you have the one.... Triumph makes you prove ownership with your registered vin.  $21K....

Line of Guzzis in the rear section of the store. They have 5-6 others in the storage area.

This is perhaps one of the best looking Scramblers I have seen. Frankly, compared to MOST of the Triumphs on the floor, the Guzzi's look cheap by comparison. Guzzi needs to up its game. I can easily see myself owning several of the most recent models.  Gonna dream about that Thruxton Special Edition. Glad I have no room or good will from the MRS.... :thewife:

A Plus One from me for Moto Richmond.   Although 120 miles from home, and the last 25 minutes a painful stop and go to get to their Manchester location on the river, they're my "home" dealer.

Appear to have started out as an urban scooter dealer, making money the hard way, $2.00 at a time fixing moped tires and replacing broken cables, but they're definitely a full-service multibrand motorcycle shop now.   They did the roller conversion on the Stelvio, have done all the service on my Triumph triple, and it's all gone well.

I always enjoy my visits there.

About 50 miles from me.  Been there several times, but never had any service work done.  They are very friendly but not overly pushy when it comes to sales.  Came close to trading my R3 on a Goose a year or two ago but decided to keep the "Old Fat Bottom Girl'.  I will have to agree on that Scrambler, that is a fine looking motorcycle.  Always been a sucker for high pipes........

I got last pick of raffle prizes at the VA Rally, and came away with a women's XS Moto Richmond T-Shirt... Perfect for the wife!  She loves the shirt and but we haven't set foot in the store, we are sure to pop in and grab something next time we roll thru.

That special edition Thruxton looks sweet, I have been enamored with the new Speed Twins since they came out tho... 21k is a little rich for my blood!

I'll give them a thumbs up as well. Needed a Guzzi part and was promptly shipped. BK
