Howdy folks,

I test rode a 2016 Eldorado and absolutely love the motor and the way the bike feels. Also have my eye on a 2014 California Touring that I’m not able to test ride. Since it has bags, is less expensive and will cost less to insure, I may go that route instead. It’s a tough choice and I wonder if the engines perform relatively the same or is there a notable difference that I am not aware of?

Thanks!

I cannot comment on Touring model but I have 16 Audace and 16 Eldorado and I don't find any difference in engines performance. The same engines, the same transmissions and the same final drive. The feel will be different mainly because of different wheels and tires size as well well the bike geometry/ergonomics.

Did you see the post about a new Eldorado for under $10,000?

No but there was one at my local dealership for that price. I’ve been in the fence waiting on some news from my employer. Sadly, the salesman just messaged me that someone else bought the Eldo this afternoon.

You may want to check with "kballowe" he had a Touring and just bought an Eldorado. I have a Touring but if I'm not mistaken the rake and or trail are a little different on the Eldorado as well as a narrower rear tire which would probably make it a little quicker steering. Not for sure on this but check with him he will know for sure.

I've ridden two Cal Touring 14 and thought they had a lot of motor.  More than any other Vtwin Cruiser/Tourer on the market.

Kevin on this board had a Touring and replaced it with an Eldo and said the Eldo ran great but the Touring had some hiccups.  I was really surprised when he mentioned that.  Ride the bikes and see for yourself.  I doubt there's any difference from one model to the other vs variabilities from one bike to the next.

If you are interested in a new Eldorado go back in and talk with John or Ed.  I bet they can find one for you that the same price.

You might want to look for one or the other used. Prices on used are very good. It's a sin how much my 14 Touring is now worth.

Indeed, there is a 2014 low-mile touring near me that is $8600

Meh, I'd think they were the same.  My Cali Tour 1400 ran well, but I have to say that this 2016 Eldorado appears to have more zip.
Maybe because the Eldo is lighter and no windshield.  Maybe the acceleration just FEELS stronger.

Which engine mode you select makes a lot of difference in how the bike responds. I run in Veloce all the time.

Right.  Eldo has an 16" front .vs 18" on the California - and a 180mm rear tire .vs 200mm

So, the Eldo feels more "nimble".

I know someone that has two 1400 T's. He has had nothing with one of them, and the other was fixed with a software update. He told me it had been fine ever since. (He keeps one up North and one down South for when he winters down there.) Possibly why Kevin's T runs different than the Eldo, IDK.
