Norge Riders - Enjoy this one
« on: August 26, 2019, 11:30:53 PM »
I was reminiscing today with a friend on the board...it's been 10 years since I bought my 2008 Silver Norge, and I still love it and it gets better every year as it fits like a well worn comfortable pair of blue jeans.  It's the best Sports Tourer I've ever ridden or owned, and hopefully it lasts me another 20-30 years.

By pure coincidence...an article that showed up today...can't say how many of these I've seen written about other models...but it's a nice look back, and even touches upon the soft suspension (easily fixed by an after market rear shock as mentioned in a current thread).

Norge riders:  Eat your heart out...and if you've ever had the chance to ride this stretch of road, you'll enjoy the article even more...

That's a nice little story!
I haven't had a Norge, but am a bit surprised by the rider's comments that the bike runs out of steam at 100 mph, and that the brakes are not overwhelming, which I take to mean a complaint.

Never ridden a two valve version. I know my 2011 has plenty of power left at a 100.

2 valve Norge is a real pleasure to ride...will do well above 100...and brakes are quite good.  Once you get the suspension sorted, and any turbulence from the windscreen (entirely dependent on your height and possibly the top box), it's a pleasure to ride all day long, and will carve canyons beautifully.

Two Wings and I were running at 130 mph a few years ago across Utah on our way to John Day in Oregon, and he pulled away from me quite nicely into the distance.  I didn't feel the need to push it anymore, but the bike is super stable and planted at that speed.

Come down to 70 mph and it feels quite slow after an extended high speed run like that...

Good read Paul, N. Cali is a motorcycle paradise that has been too long since I enjoyed it.  Got to go back.  On a Norge.

Brakes on a Norge should be more than adequate! Feel can be improved by going to HH pads from the stock FF's, if you want more than that stick on a radial Master.

I certainly don't expect a 2V motor to have the grunt of an 8V and they do get a bit breathless at the top end but they'll punch on above 100mph. If they can't there's something wrong with them. Either that or the pilot must be even fatter than me by a considerable amount!

I didn't read it that way.

I read it as 100 mph is the top CRUISING speed, meaning it will run 100 as long as the rider cares to ask it to.
