Campfire friends, take a look at the July 2019 issue of Rider. More specifically, look at page 53. You will find a full page ad for Pocahontas County, WV. The lead rider is yours truly. OK, I'm on a Multistrada. I guess this is my 15 minutes of fame. Back in 2011 the county was working to promote motorcycle tourism. They hired an agency to put out a media campaign and that agency showed up with a bunch of HD types. The locals decided that they did not want to promote the typical cruiser/outlaw image...and our Ducati group had been coming to the county for years so we filled in for the photo shoot. Now I wish I had been on a Guzzi but...well, I was between Geese at the time. Sigh!

I saw the ad, and I've seen you, but in the helmet and goggles there wasn't any way to tell it was you, so I'm glad you said something. I could then tell Fay "Hey, look here, I KNOW that guy" ....
Interesting that they would choose a pair of sport-touring bikes to represent the riding in their county. Everyone else goes (I suppose) where the real money is - a line of cruisers, whose styling is described by the makers' ads and testers reviews as "intimidating", "dark", or "formidable" and whose riders dress to match. Hurrah for Pocahontas County for bucking the current!
Lots of beautiful roads there for sure.

And that issue has an article on riding all the paved passes in Colorado. We do half a dozen of these in and around the Ouray NAR. I've been over most of the passes listed, though not in one trip . . .
