True. In RI, the major dump is the central landfill in the town of Johnston and is called Mt. Trashmore by the locals. It's been growing for at least 50 years, is currently adding about 4000 tons per day, and is now ~250' above its base and ~600' above sea level, making it the second highest point in RI. It will need FAA approval if it goes any higher.

Looks to me like a properly managed landfill with run-off control, covering of the trash, and methane management.

Nobody's getting "smug" about anything. If you can't see the difference between a landfill and a pile of unmanaged, uncontrolled garbage, then there's not a lot to go on with here. We've got a landfill here where I live; it's getting close to where you could have a picnic on it.

I will say, however, that the Rhode Island landfill would make as good a jumping-off point for the moon as the one in Dehli would! Which was the start of the joke ....

Agreed....Can you imagine the air / water quality around New Delhi?!?!!!? ..and the rats...and the cockroaches...and the disease?!!!? At this rate....ARMAGEDDON is just around the corner! Dreadful....
