Anyone have experience with this? Price is good, and the 47yr old Bosch on my Eldo is finally leaving the building.

No experience with MG Cycle Alternate Starter, but recently had my original starter rebuilt by a local shop for very reasonable price. He said took same parts as VW Beetle starter and it was done in 24 hours.

I prefer real Valeo Starters to made in china repops. The can be had even cheaper. ( Guzzi Content). got 2 Tontis running on those with no problems whatsoever.

Don't do it, the Bosch is so simple to refurbish a new set of brushes and bushes and it will last another 40 years.

Chinese Valeo, no ragrats. I run a much smaller battery these days. My Eldo has the alternator conversion and the MIC starter so no need for that boat anchor.

On my third season with a Chinese Valeo clone on my V50II. Cheap and cheerful, fits perfectly, delivers more starting power per amp because of the planetary gears. Faultless to date. Possibly a real Valeo might last longer, but for $75 I can just replace it if there is an eventual problem. Another bonus: The clone is significantly lighter than the Bosch, so you gain several pounds the bike does not have to lug around. Win-Win in my book.
