A couple of months ago I ordered a black, keyring-style oil filler cap wrench from an outfit in Australia, Blackbantam Designs. I told them I wanted a black one because my V7 Special, a 2014, is black and silver. As it happened, they were out of black ones or black material, so it took a while for my tool to arrive, but there was certainly no urgency. During that time I heard from my contact at Blackbantam, Finbar McCarthy, know as Fin. He apologized for the long wait and I told him it was cool.
When my tool arrived, I found that it would not fit over the flanges of the filler cap. I filed and sanded and made it work. Took maybe half an hour. I wrote Fin and told him that I'd done that and succeeded in making the tool fit. I figured he'd check future tools to make sure they weren't too tight, as mine had been.
Just today I opened our mailbox and found a small envelope with a stamp worth $3 Australian, a picture of the Queen. Inside was a second keyring/tool and a short note from Fin McCarthy:
"Let's try this one! Really appreciate your patience. Fin."
If you have just bought a Guzzi, your new bike has an oil filler cap and you'd like to have a tightening/loosening tool on your keyring, remember Blackbantam Designs. Fin will meet you more than halfway.
