Shifting Linkage Connector Rod for 74 Eldorado
« on: August 19, 2019, 11:27:55 AM »
Wondering if anyone knows if/where these are available. It's the rod that's threaded on both ends, which connects the shifting lever to the first linkage point. The original rod on my Eldo broke, years ago, and dad had replaced it with a piece of all thread. That all thread bent, and eventually broke, during my trip to Arkansas, last weekend. Luckily, it waited to snap, until u was only a few miles from home, so I was able to bring the rest of the way in second gear, where I was stuck. I've called Harper's, and they have non in stock, either new or used. Didnt see it on the MGCycle site, either. If I have to, I'll just use all thread, again, but I'd rather have the correct, stronger part.

When in need, I just make one. Length of M6 rod from McMaster, cut to length and threaded.

Threaded on both ends though? The original had a 90* bend on the forward end where it went through the pedal and was threaded on the other end.
