I went this year for the first time, what an experience. And wow, what an incredible men’s final!

Lucky you to see it in person...another tremendous 5 setter! Congrats to the winner...I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen the results!

And what about the Women's, are they not worth mentioning?

Of course, I was just keeping it short. The women were fantastic.

i didn't get a chance to see any of the games except for the men's final. its just the way it worked out here wit the tv. i don't have cable and i couldn't find it for free on youtube until a friend hipped me to a reddit feed for the men's final.
there is a crop of new'ish players out there now who are really making a name for themselves. its a good time to challenge the likes of serena and roger as they are both nearing the end of their playing cycles. i wish i had been able to see the williams/andrescu match.
my friend brought up a good point. in this day and age why aren't the women playing 5 sets? isn't it about time? with only 3 sets a player doesn't have much room to turn the game around if she gets into trouble. women have the stamina for 5 sets - come on!
medvedev really gave nadal a good run. it was fun to see the points swing back and forth. we'll see more of him. rafa has this energy reserve that seems to kick in when you think he must have no energy left. its an extra gear and it has held him in good stead for all these years.
it was a great match.

I agree, the women can certainly handle winner of three sets!

We went to the women's match. The sound in Ashe at times is deafening, you can feel the air vibrate. Sirena should have won on the crowd support alone, but Bianca was hitting really hard and right on target. A great win.

the crowd in n.y. is pretty active but its a tennis crowd and when the umpire says "the players are ready" everyone (for the most part) quiets down. there were times when they shouted against and boo'd nadal but toward the end they were chanting "RAFA RAFA!" i felt sorta bad for medvedev because clearly the vocal aspect of the crowd was with nadal at the end. M. had a sort of deer in the headlights/whipped dog look about him. he'll get better - he'll get tougher. he's a really good player and he has potential but nadal has that smirk and that swagger.

If you believe Medvedev, negative crowd energy was just what he needed to win. I think he's a really good player who easily could have won. Showed great mental toughness to come back from 2 sets down against anyone, let alone Nadal and on that stage. But, his petulance and anger may end up getting the better of him if he doesn't get a handle on it (see Kyrgios, Nick).

I don’t think he’s the dick that Kyrgois is. The kid was amazing, but I was really pulling for Nadal.
