I recently picked up a V11 Lemans, so I was really glad to see Pressureangle and many others, do what it took, to make this fine piece of kit designed by Pete, available to us again.

I've already sent a pm to Pressureangle on V11Lemans.com, that I'm in for one.

So, yes or no: This plate improves oil circulation for all V11 engines, such as those in the Tonti California's? Or is it not appropriate/necessary for those motors?

Not appropriate. The V11S has the oil pickup in the front of the motor. (What were they thinking) On hard acceleration, the oil sloshes backward and uncovers the pickup. Not good. This plate just keeps that from happening. Strangely enough, although the 1100 Sport, Centauro, etc. have the same system, they are geared differently and that doesn't appear to happen.

Yep, highly recommended for anybody with a broad sump spine frame bike. I put one on my LeMans and Pete's CARC vent that prevents water incursion into the rear drive has seen duty on my Stelvio ever since it was introduced.

If you ride real hard, you might try to find one for the "normal sump" engines.  I put one on my Carb Sport 1100, as I was taking it to track days, and riding pretty aggressively at the time.

The main purpose of the plates for the earlier engines is to limit, or at least reduce, oil expulsion during hard, high RPM running like a racing environment. In everyday use one is rarely necessary.

The V11 plate was designed specifically to deal with the oil pick up exposure problems suffered by V11's which leads to them running their big ends if they are launched hard and frequently. The issue can be seen by observing the 'Flickering oil light of death' in those circumstances, the problem is you don't usually look at the instrument binacle while launching hard!

Chuck has essentially summed it up and while it won't do any harm to fit one to any 'Broad Sump' bike I've not heard of any five speed machine torching it's big ends in the way V11's are prone to.
