Not sure what you're talking about.  The narrow fill hole is a bit of a pain though.

Just finished my first long trip on the V 85.  6 days.  Bike performed flawlessly and I am very satisfied with my purchase.  A few of my biking buddies asked if there were any negatives.  Only two and they are minor. #1: I wish the top box didn't sit so far behind the end of the bike.  Not sure how to change that, but if the top lids of the panniers would clear the top box, I wish it were positioned further forward. #2:  Filling with fuel is a challenge.  It just burps and spits when you get close to full, or what I think is close to full.  You have to really feather the fuel in to try and get the tank filled.

One of the first mods I made on mine was to take off the filler neck and cut the restricted plastic tube. It goes on a taper so I made it short enough to expand the diameter of the fill hole.  It is much easier to see inside and to fill at the pump.  Technically it gives you more gas capacity as well, but you do want to leave a little air space over top of the gas level.  The whole thing probable took about 20 minutes to do.

A pain for sure once you get near full, at least using the California style nozzle vapor recover thingy.  I think I add almost half a gallon more after that thing trips off by holding the rubber back and click click add a bit each time.  I need to work on my Spanish for my Mexico trip as they fill the tank for you and I need to let them know to be careful.  Cuidada gasolina lenta por favor.

While I don't have the V85, that's a good idea to modify the filler.  I took my V7 filler apart and all the nonsense for restricting the process came right out with zero ill effects.  I'd for sure attempt the same thing on a V85.
