Colorado rallies?
« on: December 11, 2019, 12:04:40 PM »
I know it's early, but 3 of my Guzzi brothers and I are wanting to plan a trip to a Guzzi rally in CO this summer.  I'v only done midwest rallies and it's been a while since I have been out west on a bike.  It appears to me that there is no longer a Guzzi rally in CO?   Is this the case?   If so, are there any other easy going rallies in CO, or Guzzi rallies in the Rockies?

There are the biennial Ouray and Utah rallies , as far as I know those are the only events besides the New Mexico rally in the Rockies .

We met in Ouray this year.  Tentative plan for 2020 is Utah.  We’ve been meeting during the second week in September.

Ouray is the best Colorado location we’ve tried.  There’s a nice KOA there, with lots of great riding.  If you wanted to come out to Ouray in 2020, you might post your plan on this board and see if anyone is interested in meeting you.  You’ll need to make reservations at the KOA in advance.

Utrider (Roy) is the Utah organizer.  I don’t know if he’s decided on a place yet.

Yes, the New Mexico Rally in Datil is an "official" Guzzi Rally with all the trimmings - mid-August.  This is a good one! :thumb:

There are also two (2) Guzzi  N.A.R. (Not-A-Rally), one in Cottonwood, AZ the 2nd weekend in May, and one in Lake Henshaw, CA (near San Diego) - Both draw 40-55 riders each, depending on the year, but are both FUN. :thumb:

Top of the Rockies Rally is an annual rally attended by several of our WG members, despite it mainly being a BMW thing.  July 16-19, 2020.  https://bmwmcc.org/top-o-the-rockies-rally/

Next "WildGuzzi Western Adventure" will be 2021.  As mentioned, most have been at KOA Ouray, which is a great place.  I hosted the first two.  Alan took the reins and hosted the last two.

2013 - Ouray
2015 - Cripple Creek
2017 - Ouray
2019 - Ouray
2021 - TBD

I think Boulder Utah would be a great little place for a Guzzi get-together!  Good mix of riding for touring/sport-touring and plenty of dirt/sand/gravel for the ADVriders amoung us!  Great riding in that part of the country!

Top of the Rockies is a good one in Paonia, 16-18 Jul.   A couple of locals from the board, Seth being one, help put it on.

Count on about 500 or so motorcycles and campers in the town park with food and music.  It's surrounded by great riding roads. Paonia is cool little mountain town with it's own community radio.  Great places for day's rides, like Black Canyon, Marble, Ouray, Gateway.  It's one my favorite rallies.

This is one of my favorite rallies to attend. There is a decent turn out of Guzzi folks each year. I highly recommend it.

P.S. there should be a picture floating around MGNOC of all of us who attended this year with our bikes lined up.

I was a member of that club a long time ago.  It was a great group back then and I'll bet it still is.

Bad Chad, I am planning the Co/Ut rally for 2020. I am leaning towards the same place we had it in 2018.  It is in Midway, Ut.  It is a small town near Heber City with Park City/Deer Valley just over the hill.

There are several rides available in the area and the accommodations and camping seem to be well received.

It will be the 10th-13th of September.  We had about 25 total between the 2 days of rides, and a great group of riders from all over the western part of the continent.

I will posting up more specifics as we get closer.  Last time I reserved a group site in a state park, I am planning on doing that again if there's sufficient interest.
We also had resort accommodations at a nice place called "Zermatt" (Midway is a Swiss themed community) and I will be reaching out to them to see if they are interested in hosting us again this year.

I look forward to hearing if your plans can work out. September is a nice time around here, as the intense heat of summer subsides and the evenings cool off a bit.
