Since building my 8v sb I’ve only been changing engine oil and today 3rd new back tyre, so about time for a looksee
When I got it 80Kkm (50k miles) drive couplings were absolutely rooted, had only been ridden very gently, almost certainly never over 100kph, hence engine still working (till I broke it )
So I was sure this coupling would be my nemesis, a v9 shaft will go in one day
But
Coupling still has red grease I put there, splines like new, this is after proper hammering, I’ve tortured this engine from day one. So be reassured modern v7 owners, greased, this coupling is not the throwaway consumable I, at least, thought it was.
UJ also perfect, no moisture in swinging arm, nicely greased, boot not leaking.
Drive box oil (fully synth, naturally, only best good enough) a little discoloured but no milk. No leaks of course.
Rear pads are worn out but probably because brakes were still linked until tyre 2, new ones should last at least twice as long delinked.
So just fresh oil, grease , pads and a tyre, cheap motoring
Solstice Greetings to all
