Quota 1100 oil leak
« on: January 27, 2020, 07:57:06 PM »
I just got to work. On the ride in I made a left and the rear tire broke traction pretty good. I pretended it was a dirt bike and was fine. I was worried I’d picked up a nail, but that was not the case. My rear tire had been given an oil bath. I’ve been riding it pretty often and it leaks a little but nothing terrible. This evening on my way into work I filled it up. I topped it off pretty good bc it’s in the low 40’s and the fuel isn’t going to expand because the inground temp is around the mid 60’s. (I deliver fuel for a living)

Anyway, my question is does my quota have a tank overflow that I may have triggered that made the problem worse? The oil consumption so far has been minimal. Certainly not anything like it was tonight. Oil is finally where it should be on the dipstick. Just below the halfway point of the safe marks, hot, without screwing it in. Or should I start planning some serious wrenching while the weather is still cold? I ride 12 months tho.

Thanks in advance, Robert

There is a vent line off the back of the tank that runs out the back and down.I never saw mine drip fuel.Go read his posts in ADV rider. He was getting some oil drips.Clean the rear wheel area thoroughly and see if starts to be covered with a oil film.

I assume that the Quota is the same as my old Cali

Check the flexible oil feed from the top of the crank case to the heads

Mine failed on the Cali and I got oil in quite a few places

Is not screwing in the dip stick SOP? I remember screwing it in to check oil on my two Bassa and my Lemans.

You got it nailed, I'll bet the airbox is wet inside.
