Winter rides don't get any better.
« on: February 02, 2020, 03:43:32 PM »
WOW! Feb. 2nd and I rode the T-3 for about a 90 mile loop this afternoon. Was 67 degrees when I left and 75 when I returned with only a light breeze. Don't get any better. Would have stayed out longer but the grandkids are on the way.

Yep, the weather was absolutely perfect for riding in our part of the country, John. I did 120 miles up to Belton, MO to spend the night at my lady's place. 70 degree weather with very little wind, the whole way, and tomorrow looks to be just as nice for the return trip.

I finished up a refurb on my '03 Triumph Bonneville T100, pursuant to passing it on to my son. The fuel system had become a little dirty and it had a dead battery. I did the usual removal of floatbowl/jets/slide and cleaned everything up. The tank got a Pingel petcock and the carbs went one size smaller on the mains. Plugs, filters, and a sump full of Castrol Synthetic also went in the old girl. I started the mixture screws at two turns out and hardly had to change them once it started up. I took it out for gas and a little shakedown. This bike is not heavily leaned on, but I spent some money on brakes and suspension. Even with the old Bridgestone Spitfires, it railed turns and stopped well. I filled it up with high-test and made my way to my neighborhood backroad. Forty minutes later I got home flush with excitement about my old flame. It ran better than ever and the weather was sublime. Jarrod is coming over tomorrow. I'm pretty jazzed to give it to him.

He sure was happy. Another beautiful day here. My shop is a little more empty, but my heart is full. He took the Bonnie home tonight...

I'm working down on the Florida Panhandle and it didn't get that warm yesterday.  WTF?

Still got in a good ride and some nice background for photos.

Since Redd Volkert left Austin, there’s really no reason to stay <shrug> I live in SW Missouri, but NWA is part of my playground. It’s as good a riding as anywhere I’ve been in the US and less traffic!
