Pulley specs for 70 Ambassador
« on: September 18, 2026, 10:58:24 AM »
70 Ambassador stock crank pulley seems to be 38 degrees.
Amazon alternator pulley for the conversion seems to be 34 degrees. Can't tell for sure if the original generator is 34 or 36.
Internet thinks the original belt was 36 degrees, based on Bender's site.
Belt I bought based an homebrew alternator conversion from the internet is a 36 degree belt (Goodyear 15290). Now have Harper's alternator bracket.

Anyone have opinions or facts on what's correct, angles or belts?
Have a trip to my machinist coming up and was thinking I'd get the alternator pulley matched to the generator pulley and find a correct belt.

I didn't worry about "degrees" of anything, just found one the correct length and ran it. In my case - Harper's bracket, alternator bought on ebay - I used a 15295 belt. From ThisOldTractor: Dayco 15295 (metric part number 11A0750). 30.1 inch outside circumference, 29.5 inch effective length, 0.44 inch wide, 36°
