LM4 16" wheel value?
« on: February 29, 2020, 08:28:28 PM »
I've got a nice straight LM4 front wheel to sell, but don't know what a fair price would be.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I got mine on this forum from MG Mark. The wheel was free, I paid the postage.

Some do like 16" frt wheels... but the majority appear to want to change to 18".

Wirespokes, you are probably looking at $100-$200 range, IMHO. depending on condition, etc.  I have a 16 on the front of my 85 LM and love it! Just gotta keep the tire pressure up. The triple trees on these bikes were designed to run the 16. Changing to an 18 I think requires a triple tree change as well.

Thanks Cdn and bbrick. I was thinking in that range as well $1-200. Someone should want a spare - I usually get spares for my bikes with a new tire ready to go. Or, in the case of the dual sports, dirt or street tires.

My 87 LM came already converted to the 18 and I like it that way, even with the reduced offset triples. But I do like it better now with the earlier triples with the bigger offset. The 85 is being made over into a 1000S with wires, so the 16 isn't needed. It's pretty nice except for an area of flaky paint, but it's only got 4K on it. No scrapes, dings and runs true.
