Camshaft bearings

850 Le Mans 2.  It seems as though my Cam shaft bearings/surfaces are scored / damaged. The cam runs in the bare Aluminium engine housing, therefore there is no possibility to change/renew the bearings.
What is the solution to getting these 2 housings back to original spec ??
I am thinking that either line boring the 2 cam support bores to a larger size and fitting shell bearings - as per a car engine,
Or, line boring them out and fitting a cam with oversize journals ?
Has anyone come across this before? - is there a way of doing this, It seems that if it cant be done then I'm going to have to throw away the engine, this seems a little extreme !!

Either sounds workable to me, although I've never heard of anyone doing it on a Guzzi..

Ivan Walk of Enfield Ct. had the exact problem.
Had block line bored  to accept new flat bearings .
He also fitted VW pistons with iron sleeves and made his 73 ELDORADO into a  big bore .
That was done in the late 70's..
I'm sure that many people have had this done.
A VW engine shop would be my first bet.
A speed shop may be more familiar with the procedure.

I have seen it done, with bronze bearings as replacement.
The rear one with a cup shaped blind bearing.
 Long ago a company over here offers it here as standard repair
