Ok, I haven't converted these km/h to mph yet, but here are done notes I have on our bikes:

80 mph is about 5000 rpm on my 2007 Nevada.  Not sure what MK # it is.

The MKI moniker grew out of a need to quickly describe the first generation of the 1tb model V7s from the V7II and V7III. Before that there were various generations of the V7c/Breva750/Nevada 750 but all were 2TB models and though very similar, a little different.

The tank swap interests me as well.  Is it a straight bolt on?  Does the seat need to be swapped for a V7 seat?

I would like to know this also. I seem to remember reading somewhere that it took some fabrication, but can't find it now.

Tank installation is not a problem.
But you need a V7 saddle that matches the footprint of the tank.
A V7 saddle requires a modification for its rear attachment.

I'm considering the reverse - putting a Bobber/Roamer tank on a V7 III to give it more of a tracker look. As Sarah asked, the tank internals the same? If so you could do the tank swap in minutes and could go back and forth if you wanted to swap range for looks.

I just had a quick check of AF1's parts lists for the pumps and they have different no's.  My recollection is they are different.  I don't have the v9 tank with me to check. 

As far as tanks go any will work.  You could try and locate a really early and likely very cheap 17l tank with pump, but the early v7 small tanks used a different pump to the later 21l tanks.  Ideally you'd try and get a steel 21l tank with pump. 

Ebay can be your friend of course, although sometimes TLM and AF1 have reasonable priced stuff.  I think I paid about aud800 for both, although I bought them seperately.  The tank was new and the pump 2nd hand from AF1. 

I don't know if it's the case worldwide but the V9's are going a bit cheaper than similar year V7's in OZ.  There's a couple of dealers with lightly used (1000km) 2016 demo's for 11k.  So for an extra 1200 you would have a v9 special, which is cheaper than what 2016 v7's are going for.

Off the top of my head my swag would be different base plates to fit the tanks.
