Are any rallies going to happen this year?

Just wondering what the status of Guzzi rallies are this year.  Any cancellations?

I think everything is cancelled thru May.  Check the MGNOC website.  Frank keeps it updated.

 If and when it is safe enough to have the event in Cedar Vale we will do so . No idea what anyone else will do , we have a level of flexibility with this event that is probably unusual .

MN is still on in Grand Marais the last weekend in June..26-28th .  The biggest car show in the country, Back to the 50's in St.Paul, is still holding firm the weekend before.

I am beginning to wonder and if they do happen will you be inclined to go? I know that no one really knows how this will play out but there are a couple of things that have given me pause. First is even if things start to open up slowly as early as June how many folks will be comfortable enough to travel, stay in motels and gather in larger groups by then? Or for that mater in the next three months after May? As many of the events are held in small towns how many of these places will be open to having big numbers of out of town folks gathering in the community? Not saying that some of the later summer and fall events won't happen but one has to wonder. As of now all one can do this check in to see if what ever it is you are looking at is still on before going. We are still holding out hope for the events we have plans for in August and September but as I said doubt is creeping in. There is just too much at stake and too many things still remain to be seen about the nature of this situation.

 ^^^No doubt there is great uncertainty , but the hopeless optimist in me says we will eventually get thru this . Leaving the 2020 WG National effectively open isn't anything more than a reminder of better times , and a simple recognition of better times to come . Heck , 2020 might be lost, the Crystal Ball out in the shed isn't saying much at the moment , and anyone who tells you they can predict the future is a fool , and hoping you are also.

 Still , we will resume rallying , if not this year then 2021 . Meanwhile , exchange phone numbers , skype , share stories . We are still a family , just one that can't meet on the porch right now . I stay in contact with probably 20 members , we keep each other from stepping of the ledge . Heck , if you get bored we can exchange numbers and talk motorbikes .

The New England rallies/meets are still listed as happening both on the IMOC site and Groups.io, but check w someone local before traveling.

So far the meets have been changed in format a few days beforehand, in keeping w the conditions.

Our annual Antique Bikes on Main rally, which has become tangent to city council & sponsorship, was cancelled in early March along with all other 2020 municipal events following advice from higher powers.   It's a bummer, but actually nice to not be wide open doing big event production for a change.   I "retired" from it but am still seriously involved year round.

You can do a lot of work making that engine rebuild project all clean and shiny on the outside.  But if you don't go the extra mile to clean out the sling traps in the crankshaft and all those little nooks and crannies that no one will ever see, it doesn't take much leftover junk to quickly ruin everything you've done.  Then you get to do it all over again...  This is no different. The most effective part of this social distancing/stay at home approach is likely to be the latter part of the isolation, especially if done in complete unison.    Not much fun, but it's a drag to hear that new engine start growling, thumping or go simply go snap.

I am really, REALLY, hoping the New Mexico State Guzzi Rally in Datil will happen again this year in mid-August...

I want to ride along the Plains of St. Augustin' once again...

I am optimistic that the Wisconsin Rally will happen July 31, Aug 1,2.

Illinois rally has been cancelled in May ,,,,,,,,,,,

Michigan Rally Committee will be meeting in early May to make decisions regarding moving forward with rally. We still have the benefit of some time.

Until real rallies resume, we could have a virtual rally on the dates that were supposed to happen with someone close enough to the site who could post up a pic at the rally site.

At least that way it could be considered that 2020 was not completely lost or we'll have an asterisk in the history of consecutive Guzzi rallies!

JJ - I sure hope that Datil will be a go. I will try to get two buddies from So. Fl.  to come to Prescott for it. We’ll show up on the K75S, EV, and Stelvio. Stay at the World Famous Largo Inn.😀😀😀 A good time.
