Don’t worry Harley...Qianjiang promises to respect all of your intellectual property and wouldn’t dream of infringing on any of your design patents or engineering trade secrets. What could possibly go wrong?

<sigh> . Old news other than the displacement bump . HD needs the money , at least this time the MoCo didn't buy a company overseas to mismanage their product .

Probably the same thing when they see my helmet.  Harley Davidson branded 1/2 helmet.  Made by AVG (Italian) in a factory in Malaysia.

The article is on the displacement and product placement.  I did my graduate thesis on Harley Davidson in '89, so yeah really old.

Must be more related through the twists and turns of international commerce. (Obviously )  Qianjiang bought Benelli and are using their production line to manufacture stuff.  Cheaper to buy the rights and make stuff to sell under that name.  HD would need to have someone there from the U.S. for QA if the motorcycles are to be sold as HD's and just made from HD components.  Commie Nick would attest to that if he was still around.

What would the faithful think about a Chinese Harley?
What do they think right now about Japanese lighting and suspension, Italian brakes and Australian wheels?

I think it looks kinda cool. Having ridden liter+ bikes for so long, I don't see myself on one, though. YMMV.

My understanding is that these models were never intended for the US market, Asia only. I'm always amazed at the number of Guzzistas that give care one to what the MoCo is doing.  :bike-037:

If I am not mistaken, Qianjiang is the company that owns SSR Motorsports as well.

Founded in 2002, SSR Motorsports has become a premier distributor of deluxe pit bikes and on/off-road vehicles. By carefully selecting an OEM manufacturer in China, and with a strict onsite QC process by SSR onsite representative, SSR is able to provide high quality products while keeping them affordable. Branching out into small displacement fuel economic scooters and electric bicycles, SSR continues to innovate in an ever changing economy. In 2015 SSR and Q.J. penned an agreement to control North American Distribution of the Benelli product lines.

For the money, I really like this SSR Motorsport dual-sport 250!!!  The fit and finish looks great also. :thumb:

I realize the above post was meant to be sarcastic. Not trying to start (continue?) a Chinese-bashing thread but... Had a customer that sent one their stamping dies to China to have the product manufactured there. Contract was for somewhere around 10,000 pieces to be stamped. When the customer received their die back at the end of the project it was completely worn out and had well over 100,000 hits because the Chinese made and sold parts using their American customer's die. There is no such thing as intellectual property rights in China.
