My hippy wife isn't into material things, but she does like to camp- especially in a canvas tent. A few years ago when wanting to move off the ground, we lucked into a absolutely mint unrestored original 1967 Cox Commander camper. We had no idea such a thing existed and had talked about building something sort of like it.
For those who also don't know, the canvas tent portion is erected by simply unfolding the front & rear platforms. The attached canvas top automatically deploys over metal tube framework. Stowing is done by simply folding the platforms back into place. A canvas tonneau is snapped over the closed camper. When erected, the same tonneau zips to the tent to form the porch roof or awning. If stored outside for extended periods, the canvas tonneau is prone to leaking and allow water & rodent damage. So few survived relatively intact. This one had only been used 7 times when we bought it in 2016 and had been well-garaged for its entire life. It's unbelievable...

In 1968, Cox expanded their line & options significantly. Information for the later years is somewhat easier to find. In 1967, they still only offered 3 or 4 models. Info is hard to find. She's on some related groups & forums but ours is generally more correct, complete and unrestored than the rest. We're looking at a like-new screen room, supposedly original Cox optional equipment, but wanting to better verify its real before buying. Hand drawn Advertising pics from contemporary magazines show the screen room with full screen walls. This one being offered looks close but has relatively solid walls.
Her birthday is coming soon. I can't buy her anything that would make her happier than something to make her favorite camper even better. Did anyone here have experience with Cox campers and such a screen room? Maybe even some old pics from camping with one back then? We're also looking for info about the optional boat rack that Cox offered for these campers.
TIA.
