Recommended shop?
« on: May 12, 2020, 04:59:04 PM »
Recommended Guzzi shop near Rockwall Texas? I was gifted a 2011 Norge and told it needs a clutch. I sold my engine hoiste that i"d had no use for in 15+ years last fall. Go figure. Have some back issues so I'm probably not up to doing it anyway. So far I've just gotten to cruise around the hood and haven't felt any slippage. Got insurance today. Texas requires insurance and state inspection before you can register one so I'm down to 1 of 3. Back brake isnt working but, its been sitting for almost a year so I'm hoping it's just a bleed to fix.

I certainly don't know of anything local.  There might be an independent shop around somewhere, but RPM was the last dealer in the area and they dropped MG some time ago.  If you want a dealer, it's either Austin or Oklahoma City.

...or can bring it down to MPH again here in Houston.

Mike's at the shop, and Davey's doing the Guzzi work...so if you trailer it down, it could be done...may take a few weeks depending on backlog, but you'd have it nicely looked over.

Tell them Paul sent you...and I'm sure he won't charge you but a bit above double the normal rate!  :)

I would make that three.  He just asked for "near Rockwall", so I left them out of my initial reply.

Thanks fellers! I took my wife's Forester in to a buddy's shop to have the oil changed Tuesday. First time I'vae ever done that. Was hoping there'd be somewhere closer to D/FW but, oh well. M son & Daughter in law live in San Antonio so Austin is an option but Houston's not terribly far away and it sounds like more affirmative recommendations. Who knows? Maybe I'll start feeling froggy again after some steroid injections. I actually live in Caddo Mills and there is absoloutely no one around here.\

That's true...called Haven Automotive Services now...I guess the other guy took the MPH name in the deal that separated the operation...but either way, Mike or Davey are your go to guys.

Or you could ask Prescott who lives in Terrell to help with a diagnosis...he's a superb mechanic and has done a lot of work by himself on the V7.

Don in OKC is you're closest repair.  He's done good work for me.  But he's an official dealer now, so he'll have to follow some protocol.

He's worked on other Norges.

So, is this a common issue? I bled it and got it working. Passed state inspection. I feel much safer now. Going to flush the front just for grins and giggles.

 Didn't they ever get that bleed problem sorted out?

Will have to track Prescott down. My experience is pretty much all shaft drive Suzuki GS models. I haven't actually felt the clutch slip but I've also not gotten ride more than a couple miles. Trying to be patient until I get it all legal.

No MG dealer in the DFW metroplex.....that's massive customer potential.....maybe someone should take up the challenge?

All legal now. Had to make a "quick" trip to San Antonio yesterday  (5-6 hourz) so I didn't get to ride before we left BUT, tomorrow, as soon as I get home I'm going to hit the road and roll a few miles.
