Duckbill Hickock maintained his reputation by killing more men including one of his own deputies.
Known as Duckbill because he had a unique nose.  A fact not written in most histories.

Looking back into my youth, I find it interesting that I rode my Schwinn Varsity bicycle past that tombstone every day on my way to junior high (7th & 8th grade) The battle  of Springfield was fought just north (a block or two) of Jarrett Jr. High where I attended.  I don't think these two things ever came up in class??  There are markers on the street where the two men stood on the square. At that distance, it was a lucky shot.

Not luck, accuracy!  Bill known for deliberate aim in shootouts, not the spray and pray of most other participants.

The historians here in Springpatch don't agree, but what the hell do they know? They claim with that pistol it was pure luck at that distance.

I'm betting it was a little of both! A careful, yet quick, shot at a long distance might find it's mark only 30% of the time, or less, by a skilled shootist. An unskilled hand might be lucky to hit the mark once in 29 tries.
Obviously my numbers and percentages are pure conjecture here, but you get the point.
Either way, what a real neat bit if history to experience!
Oh, and great pics and SWEET bike!

It was 40 degrees, and the Guzzi doesn't have any extra 'lectric to spare, so we took one of the others.... and our heated gear.

Beautiful!
My plan had been to just let the dealer keep mine for the winter, and forego the late season altogether. Just now confirmed after call to dealer... apparently MG has an issue getting the new seals, estimated to be shipped mid-December...
Oh well, I'll start looking for my Nordic skis...😬

Good shots.  Always green out here.  Perpetual Summer.
From the Deep Deep South out in left field.  There are no stupid questions.  There are however stupid people asking questions.  🤣, this includes me.  😉 Hawaii.

Again, there is no comparison to the Fall colors back in New England, but here in northern Arizona, we do get some color from the Aspens.  These photos taken just outside of Flagstaff on the way to to Snow Bowl, at about 8,000+ feet. :thumb:

We got the first snow of the season.  Fortunately it's at the 14K ft elevation.     It's still warm & toasty down at the house.  83F.  The office is 70F.

I paid for a couple of days with some achy shoulders/neck but from Asheville to Floyd on the BRP...but, it was totally worth it!

Got caught in a few downpours further north.  Was impressed with how stable and planted she was at 70-80 in the rain.

I just put all new suspension bits on my CX100 and historic tags. Haven't had the opportunity to get some mileage on her so far, but looking foreword to it!
