My 2016 Eldo with around 6000 miles on it's last two outings had several bouts of rough running. A few weeks ago, after running perfectly for 30-40 minutes, it would break up and run quite rough while gently rolling throttle on mostly between 3000-4000 rpm. *Blipping the hthrottle off and then applying it aggressively would make the problem vanish immediately, only to have it re-occur a minute or so later. It did this probably 20-30 times during the next half hour. I wondered if I had gotten bad fuel. I decided to end the ride, returned home, garaged the bike and didn't ride it for about 3 weeks. (Kind of forgot I had the problem, truth be told)
Anyhow, I took it out again today. I ran beautifully for 30 miles or so, then began to repeat the previous performance. I topped up with 3 gallons of fresh fuel, hoping for a cure. Problem continued for another 15-18 miles till I decided enough was enough, and I was getting farther and farther from home. My buddy and I pulled off the road , I stopped the engine for a couple minutes to talk to my my riding buddy and tell him I was doing an about face before things got worse and headed home.
During the entire 45 minute ride home the bike did not misbehave one time. I even tried to duplicate the throttle roll-ons, rpms, and throttle position that would make it break up before. It ran perfectly!
Any known intermittent issues that I should search out? What's the check list?
Again, first running fine for 30-40 minutes, but then breaking up, running very rough with steady throttle to gentle roll-on, mostly in the 3-4000 rpm range. Blipping throttle off and then more aggressively on corrects the problem, but usually only for 30-45 seconds. Did it repeatedly for 20-30 minutes. But then, after a very brief rest period,it ran perfectly for another 45 minutes.
