Cheap Centauro parts bike
« on: July 13, 2020, 07:45:56 PM »
For $800 I'd keep the Centauro and throw the other 2 away.

I wish that was not so far away from me. I could really use some of those Centauro parts.

Good thing that is so far away from me.  It's about 28 hours round trip for me.

I felt physical pain when I saw the Centauro on the floor like a murder victim! Ouch

Yeah, I know. There's a pattern where anything goes through a stage where it's considered to be worthless - for whatever reason. At that point anything can happen - scrap yard, ugly bodge fixes, weird mods, languish under a tarp (or not) in the yard, or just ride the crap out of it not caring if it blows up. Anyone who's collected or restored old vehicles has run into this. You can see the quick fixes just to keep it running and then the deterioration from inactivity. The lucky ones somehow suffer through that period to become rare finds and restored.

I'd love to get that one and put it back together - perhaps make some mods of my own.

I would bet that this motor was taken apart because the oil pump failed.  You may want to check the crank journals for oil starvation.

Maybe you should call the guy who sold the bikes and ask for the phone number of the guy who bought them.
He may have purchased them for the Suzuki parts and a deal could still be worked out for the Guzzi parts.

A few years ago, we were on a ride to Springerville, AZ, and a old duffer was there on his 1980's Yamaha Venture (see photo).

When I asked him about spare parts, he said:

"No problem...as he had already 4 wrecked Ventures stored in his garage!!" :thumb:

Morale of the Story - It pays to have spare parts on hand...  :thumb:
