Moto GP TV no spoilers (SPOILED!)
« on: July 19, 2020, 12:42:45 PM »
I just see the Moto GP (delayed) is going to be on a 1400 central, 1500 eastern on NBC.  Not cable but OTA.  Not sure when that happened last.

I don't know the results yet.

Gotta say, great race.  I feel bad for Marc.  Helluva a ride to end up so badly.

Not so hot on NBC production.

Fabio well deserved.  Binder looks like a comer.

Too many riders out and attrition.  I am guessing that teams will be calling Jorge and Dani.

I've not been a Marquez fan since his 2nd year but I thought it had a great ride today and I feel bad for the guy.  He deserved better than he got.  The guy was putting it all out and you have to admire his drive and competitiveness.  I hope he heals 100%

poor coverage.  We didn't see Binder's get off, nor Rossi's.   I am guessing it was world feed but it wasn't up to usual standards.  They missed some action with no replays.

The pre-race was just awful, I thought it was an intro for a funeral.  The qualifiers are sometimes better than the race and they showed none of the highlights but had enough time show both sessions.  The announcers were OK once the race started but terrible on the pre-race broadcast.  Not only was it slow, it was incoherent.  Post race was short but OK.

Wife bought me Video Pass so I got to immerse myself in Moto GP this weekend. Disappointed in Joe Roberts Moto 2 effort. I was hoping he could wave the flag a bit this year 🇺🇸  I’m a VR fan, but Marquez rode a ridiculous race. When he saved the first one, I told wife  that he was faster because he didn’t let go of low sides, in order to avoid high sides. He held on too long. What a violent crash.

 Coverage was "good enough" for me, if I wanted more I'd pay for Motogp access, you get it all then.
So good for NBC showing it, they have a few more scheduled and the rest will be on NBCSports.

The full coverage on BEiN the last few years was really great.  They had all the qualifications and races lives for all classes.  The qualifications were always exciting.  Now we get this lukewarm coverage, it's a disappointment.  The race was exciting but NBC coverage and pre-race was poor.

true.  but that's no real excuse for the terrible pre-race stuff.  They could've highlighted the qualification and even mentioned that Crutchlow was injured.  It was disjointed and contained little info when in fact there was quite a bit of news that I can gather.  The race was OK.  I am guessing the announcers were in Connecticut monitoring the world feed?  (They were likely hired because they had Brit accents.)  Actually their race commentating wasn't as bad as the pre-race.  Of course they had no control over the world feed that just might have missed Binder's and Rossi's come offs.  I give them credit to mention Binder.

It was just strange seeing MotoGP coverage all these years with the same format for 10 years + over two or three networks and wondering why NBC had to monkey with it.  Or perhaps it was the world commentary and Dorna screwed it up, not NBC?  Perhaps the virus caused caused some loss of quality and personnel?  Someone here might know what has happened.  And at least NBC put it on free TV.  It's been years since that happened when they raced at Laguna.

The race can be watched w/o commentary and enjoyed just as much.  Everyone knows the riders and what they are trying to do.  Once you know what tires they are running, the rest is execution...setting aside any commentary.

Pity for Marquez, he was gunning hard, certainly doubt he would have caught Fabio, but what a great comeback from 16th to 2nd after running into the gravel the first time.  That was fun to watch!

I'm assuming Marquez is out for 4-5 weeks probably...maybe Rossi will win again this season and fight it out against Fabio and Maverick!

I think that Rossi winning again will be a stretch.  It seems much worse now after he was denied a chance running for the title 5 years ago by Dorna.

Anyway, got to see him get the 2nd box a COTA last year.  Maybe that will be has last best run?
