Thanks, pants people!
« on: July 20, 2020, 05:34:48 AM »
I like my Diamond Gusset riding pants.  Blue jeans with kevlar, no pads.  Comfortable, and they'll make them in odd waist and length sizes.  Very high quality.  One way I judge a pair of pants is the pockets-- if the pockets are shallow and made of cheap material I won't buy.  DG has great pockets.  :)  Also, Made In USA.  Their regular pants are just as good as the riding pants.

Anyway, I ordered some new pants in the old discontinued style.  They were sent to the wrong address by mistake.  DG immediately sent me one of the new style pants with no price increase and with expedited shipping  No kvetching either.

If you want some great pants from a great company, I highly recommend DG.

Cool, Brian.  It would be nice to be there and try things on.  While I'm here, here are a few more Made In USA pants and clothing manufacturers:

Round House jeans.  Good jeans but don't buy the "seconds" or "irregulars" unless you have a sewing machine and know how to use it. When I had access to a sewing machine I bought the seconds and saved money but now I'd buy the good stuff.  :)

And Pointer brand.  Bill told me about these guys and they do a good job.

If anyone knows of more US clothing manufacturers, I'd like to hear about them.

Hey John......these guys make some pretty nice clothes. I have one of their zip-up hoodies and it is very well made. I don't think I will ever wear it out.

Those look great, Tony.  I'm half tempted to cut my two heavily stained sweatshirts into rags and buy one.  For some reason, I always quickly deface my sweatshirts.

‘Texas’ jeans; oddly enough made in the Carolinas. I have had several pair.
‘Prison blues’ made in Pendleton OR.
The ‘Texas’ jeans material is a bit thin compared to the ‘Prison Blues’
‘Texas’ makes a model with a CCW pocket.

Looks like a great buy.  What is the difference between the discounted and new style jeans?  Do the sizes run tight or loose vs standard jeans?

Thanks

John L:  I think the main difference is the “phone pocket” on the right thigh. Here’s my old ones on the left, new on the right:

The new pocket is about an inch wider and deeper. My small iPhone 6 just fits in the old pocket. Nothing taller would allow the Velcro to fasten. No Velcro on the new one.

The new pocket is about 7" deep.

OK Mr Fish, looks like a good deal.

Do the sizes run small or normal?

Sorry, forgot that part.  I think the sizing is normal.  And the gusset in the crotch makes for more comfort.

Got custom fitted today in Lynchburgh, TN and picked up pair of Defenders. So comfortable that i rode them home on the Breva on Hwy 129 into Lynville, TN. I also got two pairs of what you would call carpenter style jeans. These are perhaps the best fitting jeans but don't take more word...try on a pair!
