Buying 2003 California Stone Touring

Hi there,
I have an opportunity to buy a nice looking 2003 California Stone Touring.
However the current owner doesn't remember much of the history of this bike, he bought this bike October 2015 from a gentleman living in St Pete Florida.
I hope this gentleman is on this forum and can fill the blanks for me.

well that's the issue, the speedometer was replaced by the former owner and the current owner cant remember the story, he is an older guy in his early 70 and he didn't ride this bike much and now he stopped riding completely.

Do a search here for Hydro recall. If you can pull the valve covers and verify the recall has been done or if it is not a hydro you are golden. If it has hydraulic lifters and the recall has not been done you will need to find a kit and I think a special tool for the installation.

By all means check to see if the Hydro recall work has been done.  When I looked into this a few years ago, the recall kits were almost unfindable and, when the kit appeared on some dealer’s stock list, were priced at about $1300. 

As someone put it a few years ago, the failure rate of the stock hydro system is 100%.

That is a really sweet looking Stone. Definitely check to see if the hydro recall and the lower triple clamp recall was done. Even if the lower triple clamp one was done you might want to take a look at it anyway.
I am assuming all is well with this bike though. It looks like it was well cared for and one of the previous owners cared enough to add a second disk up front. I would be curious to see if they went with an 18mm master cylinder or retained the original 15mm.
